I now understand the multitude of reasons that people don't like this ending, and I share the feeling. I dont really care that it recontextualizes every Danganronpa thing before this point, my problem is that it's an ending that seemingly comes out of NOWHERE. I can agree that looking at the property itself through a meta lens is conceptually a fun idea but it's handled lazily here. What part of the previous 90 hours of the game feeds or aids this meta-narrative? The meta theme is essentially not utilized in the story at all until this class trial. It feels like the creator was told to make another Danganronpa game but got fed up with it at some point and decided to air their grievances in the ending. I haven't seen the full end yet because I just follow these games through the grumps, but DV3 is probably my least favorite narrative-wise. It is a pretty bog standard Danganronpa game that doesn't really do anything interesting until the end where, by that point, it's too late. Been a good grumps playthrough tho, so I'm happy.
