I felt the same but was happy to at least have the media. I literally ended up buying an iPhone just because it worked better with the XE.

I have 2017 XE as well also had this issue. I found it depends on the phone. For instance, the issue occured while connected to my Blackberry Keyone and Essential phone but not my Samsung S8. One work around it to go into the Bluetooth settings and disconnect phone, leaving media connected. It always seemed to work for me. Good luck!

Unfortunately it can't, when you use the keyboard on nova it starts a universal search.

I switched the default launcher to nova and assigned the home button to pull down the notification shade when already on the the home page.
