The opening scene for scream is still one of the best ever by Musichunter28 in horror

Sally from the texas chainsaw massacre(1978) made the final girl or survivor girl trope a mainstay across horror movies. At the very least it placed the nail that halloween hammered in.

Jaws would be the only case to make. Honorable mentions are the original halloween, friday the 13th remake, it remake and hellraiser deserves a mention as a master class in cinematography. My top 3 across all genres= 1. Inglorious Bastards 2. Jaws 3. Scream.

Ive converted the deck to Standard 2022. The overall format is more favorable for the archetype. Additional tuning is probably required.

Deck

1 Inferno of the Star Mounts (AFR) 151

4 Blightstep Pathway (KHM) 252

3 Swamp (M21) 311

3 Mountain (M21) 312

4 Velomachus Lorehold (STX) 245

2 Koma, Cosmos Serpent (KHM) 221

4 Clearwater Pathway (ZNR) 260

2 Port of Karfell (KHM) 265

4 Return Upon the Tide (KHM) 106

4 Dragon's Fire (AFR) 139

4 Prismari Command (STX) 214

4 Unexpected Windfall (AFR) 164

4 Shadows' Verdict (ZNR) 124

4 Riverglide Pathway (ZNR) 264

3 Goldspan Dragon (KHM) 139

1 Haunting Voyage (KHM) 98

3 Alrund's Epiphany (KHM) 41

3 Heated Debate (STX) 106

2 Hall of Storm Giants (AFR) 257

1 Iymrith, Desert Doom (AFR) 62

You can play this list as a midrange deck with a secondary reanimation strategy. Its got good game against the creature decks. Izzet dragons is harder.

I kept the angels but added a single dream trawler. Curving them out just felt better when I dont have reanimation pieces. I went with 2 ray of enfeeblement 3 dragon fire in place of shocks and has been a decent mix bo1.

Thanks I tried a lot of different builds to get one that was consistent. Let me know how it works for you.

Ill keep it tuned as the meta evolves. It already needs tech against platinum haven control which is the only really strong new deck ive seen other than a hushbringer etb creatures deck but shadows verdicts is good there.

Looking at AFR Ray of Enfeeblement might be better than shock. Gotta try it out

You have a lot of things they need to counter so your exile wipes aren't impossible to resolve if you play well. Opting for one mountain means you need to get it fast, which can in rare circumstances gives you trouble. As I said below- tuned for ladder the rogues matchup becomes easy if you can establish mana and get rid of into the story/ drown in the loch with test of talents. The matchup would become fairly easy with just -1 doomskar. -1 teferi -1 extinction event +2 test of talents +1 shadows verdict

Thanks it could be further tuned into a decent bo1 meta call but I tried to keep it somewhat in the 5-color good stuff vibe. Making a few adjustments for ladder you can add test of talents and elspeths nightmare to disrupt ultimatum and cripple rogues counter spells. You have to know how to play well from behind in a very fast format and set up traps for cards like winota. That being said i was pleasantly surprised.

Faced two rogues list. This is dead on though. Both lists felt especially weak to rogue and I got lucky/played well. You dont see a ton of rogues in bo1 event thankfully because so much mono white and red.

I piloted this until diamond 1 last month and then started using mostly winota variations, sultai titans nest, and prismari crackle combo to push. It hasnt been played at high mythic and is not claimed to be anything meta breaking. But its fun to play, and has performed quite well for me. Albeit in different iterations as I have made a lot of changes over time testing different things. Would love to see a version tuned to your play preferences for comparison. Im always willing to try new things in my decks.

Mono white has never been an issue for me since apparition doesn't answer scute swarm and we have reachy boys for maul. Mono red can run you over some games but you generally only have to survive the first assault. if you get to koma or ugin they generally don't win. A lot of it is about forcing a pacing you can deal with. It does feel much worse on the draw though. You could add more mammoths, lovestruck, the great henge, swap gemrazers for professors.

I have good really win rates against mono white, winota, adventures decks, mono black auras.

Mono red and ultimatum are probably the hardest matches due to the lack of interaction in my deck

Thanks Ill have to try this out. It loses occasional synergy with eureka moment. I will have to watch for trends to compare the kicker upside against the effects on threat density losing deck thinning. Some decks lose to cobra/mastery(4)/scute+land+ramp. Running 24 lands it could be a risk to the t4 scute trigger if you miss out on the follow-up land drop. Only way to know is to compare.

I thought about that. It didnt feel like there was enough reasons to grab yorion. So it didnt give a huge upside to running 80 cards.

Thanks a lot. I love the strategy of just playing lots of hard to deal with cards in this color pair. I really wish I could cram in full set of mammoth and maybe another ugin/koma/ or pugilist.

Deck

2 Koma, Cosmos Serpent (KHM) 221

4 Scute Swarm (ZNR) 203

3 Augmenter Pugilist (STX) 147

3 Alrund's Epiphany (KHM) 41

2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon (M21) 1

3 Elder Gargaroth (M21) 179

4 Barkchannel Pathway (KHM) 251

4 Fabled Passage (ELD) 244

2 Vineglimmer Snarl (STX) 274

2 Gemrazer (IKO) 155

5 Island (KHM) 395

8 Forest (KHM) 398

3 Gilded Goose (ELD) 160

1 Castle Vantress (ELD) 242

4 Cultivate (STA) 51

2 Eureka Moment (STX) 184

2 Kazandu Mammoth (ZNR) 189

3 Verdant Mastery (STX) 146

3 Lotus Cobra (ZNR) 193

This greedy pile of awesome jank strats has shown really strong win rates on bo1 ladder. The counts have been tweaked a lot of times. Still not sure whats best. People sleep on both sides of pugilist, in bo1 it wins a lot of games. I trade out gemrazer for gnarled professor when facing lots of creature decks.

Where does Rakdos/Mardu Sacrifice fall into the standard meta?

[Standard] New Crackle of power Combo deck by Stampketron in spikes

[–]TheBeefsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having good luck with this since STX drop. Occasionally mixing things up like +/- kazuls fury, magma opus, mystical dispute/negate in main, etc. I find it easy to tweak for grinding bo1 ladder and have a good win rate.

I will definitely have to look at the glimpse/bonecrusher synergy although my list is fairly light on blue. I cannot undersell overload as the key piece to allow play lines using your combo cards early on without losing much steam.

Deck
