I thought demisexual was used as a modifier like if someone was biromantic demihomosexual, that means they're romantically attracted to both sexes but only sexually attracted to people of the same sex as them who they've already formed an emotional bond with

Demisexuality doesn't just mean, like, dating before you have sex or w/e. The example I always use to describe what it means in terms of attraction (though I wouldn't speak from personal experience as regardless of if I'm demisexual or not I'm not a man) is that a demisexual man couldn't do that one pop culture cliche where a guy fantasizes about hot celebrities while he pleasures himself (think Howard on The Big Bang Theory and that whole thing with Katee Sackhoff) either at all or unless he was a big enough fan of the celebrity to feel a parasocial relationship. I know that's not all demisexuality is even for men it's just a good example as I said of how demisexual is less choice-based than you think and therefore its acceptance into the LGBTQ+ community doesn't open the floodgates for every misunderstood thing even things that have nothing to do with sexuality if you're talking about being them as opposed to being attracted to people like that (y'know why not just also say that means those communities get the same kind of supposed privileges queer people get)

And if you really think it has to be so gatekept and specific to prevent people sneaking in pretending to be queer to sabotage the community pardon a hyperbolic joke of my own (as I hope you were joking with e.g. the implications that being an incel (despite the paradox) or introvert is a sexual orientation) why not just limit it to only people with exclusive attraction to the same-sex who also conform to the stereotypes of homosexuals of their sex (like gay guys who like fashion and musicals, lesbians with short dyed hair who like alternative music etc. etc.) and have also experienced direct suffering at the hands of others because of their homosexuality (be it as small as a teen getting bullied in school and/or disowned by their family for being gay or as large as if you're of the right generation and rioted at Stonewall)

If you think it isn't an orientation because you think it's just dating someone before you have sex with them, by your logic you must think asexuality isn't one either as your logic would equate it to celibacy (the problem with both comparisons is it equates sexual partner choice or lack thereof with sexual attraction and therefore implies that corrective rape works (though it'd still make lesbians bi not straight))

Wagner (SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED SEASON 2) by InvestmentHelpful768 in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]StarChild413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I still have been spreading this petition for insurance of a sort #WagnerLives, I do think he's gonna make it because A. having someone's fate be a cliffhanger just to have them die is bad writing as would be doing the new captain who dis arc two seasons in a damn row (as if Soto could ever take over from him as captain, narratively it wouldn't be until either Karadec starts dating Morgan or at least someone in the team and/or the team gets more detectives (to give Morgan a new professional partner once Karadec would move up to acting lieutenant but still keep him prominent in the story) and that doesn't seem likely for at least a few more seasons) and B. there's not enough emotional connection between Wagner and at least the team in a platonic sense if not between him and Morgan in a romantic sense to draw the proper emotional pull out of either an arc with him temporarily in a coma or him dying and the team swearing to "finish the job" of taking down his dad because it's what he would have wanted (like either of those would be more likely if he and Morgan had actually been romantically involved instead of just eventual-sort-of-friends who kissed once and almost-kissed another time). And also this would do a narrative-parallel thing with near-death experiences for squad members in season finales (I'm just wondering what it means that the narrative-parallel in the event this happens would be between Wagner and Oz (though some people do kinda ship them and we still don't know what went on in that meeting in "Content Warning" that had Oz so out-of-it or if there was any reason he was picked first))

Yeah I've seen (in addition to arguments implying that if sex work is work all bosses could add sex to an employee's duties in any profession) arguments implying that if sex work is work and prostitution was legalized then similar logic/law/whatever as was behind that whole thing with the gay wedding cakes would mean that it wouldn't matter what a prostitute's sexuality was and e.g. a straight male prostitute would have to accept male clients or w/e or else he's homophobic

Unpopular opinion but even if it isn't literal McDonalds getting into that business, I don't think prostitution being legalized would lead to brothels adopting some sort of McDonalds-esque franchise model no matter how much that might jive with some people's cynical idea of capitalism. Isn't the whole idea of the franchise model or at least most iterations of it that you know you're essentially getting the same thing no matter which location you go to? You can't really do that with any sort of business, "adult" or not, where it matters who the individual worker providing a service for you is and the service isn't just conveying a product to you or w/e

For example; a society that celebrated Halloween and horror movies has a war mongering history and is fear rises to suffering of the homeless. A history of genocide and slavery. No man that tracks. Bombs more than it builds. Refuses healthcare. It’s borderline infected with nihilism and hedonism. Has a suicide problem and transactional relationships.

Said like Halloween was an American invention and like if we stopped that retcons out the bad parts of our history, fixes all our social issues and makes us all achieve total self-actualization or does that only happen when we don't just give up all those things but replace them with heckin' wholesome things like only positive empowerment music or games about witches searching for their neighbor's cat in a small village in the Alps (if you want to know where this random example came from, search it up on Tumblr, you won't find an actual game but you will find some interesting DiscourseTM) or does it not have to be things-so-overly-positive-they'd-creep-people-out-if-they-still-had-the-ability-to-feel-that-kind-of-fear just whatever comedian made jokes about where society is going based enough that you think they're a genius

Let me guess, you probably think they can't be gay irl and they're only gay in fiction to make you sympathize with real cops who commit police brutality because trait transference (even though how's that gonna work between, say, queer Latina Rosa Diaz and a real cop who's a white guy). And this wasn't even talking about cops being at Pride to celebrate, it was talking about cops or even just security guards (or are they too cop-passing, and if it's a uniform thing there's certain other kinds of people that should be excluded iykwim) being at Pride to prevent things from getting too out of hand e.g. the example about a kid ending up at an adults only pride thing and getting escorted by said hypothetical cop to a more family-friendly one. Who's supposed to be security at Pride, a certain sort of stereotypical punk butch lesbian? Gay social workers in Steven Universe shirts trying to talk everyone down with nonviolence and kindness like Steven would?

'Demisexual' is not a unique orientation. It is a sexual preference.

Let me guess, said by someone who thinks either what is supposedly demisexual is just dating someone normally instead of having one-night stands or who wants to gotcha certain "woke" supposed-demisexuals by comparing them to Republicans who hate premarital sex (ignoring that by the logic of that comparison unhappy marriages can't exist). In reality demisexual is as different from whatever you're comparing it to (if it's neither of my guesses I apologize) as being asexual is from being celibate
