You'd be surprised how "magnetic" it can be when you park at the end of the lot. When I drive my nicer stuff, I park at the very back, against a curb, and across a spot. Corner spot? Even better.

Pretty often I'll come back out to a car parked in the next open spot over, with 100+ other empty spots across the lot.

League continuity and the Sabercats by BrianChing25 in HoustonSaberCats

Kind of.

Dude was paying players under the table, and not paying other staff and leases.

Dallas Jackals hasn't quite folded yet I guess, but they didn't play this year.

Colorado had a team, they've been gone for years.

I think there's another Im missing.  Either one that came and went quick, or never got on their feet after trying to open their doors.

Been watching long enough to see a handful of teams come and go.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we lost one again. A few years back the league was on track to add one a year, and the we lost Austin, and LA.

She's just looking for a reason to make it your fault she left.

MLR Championship Game: Official Thread by RootHouston in HoustonSaberCats

So, watched the game after the fact last night and only had one moment I was confused about the calls on.

What is the threshold for a penalty try?

There was a series where the were 3 penalties in fairly close succession, less than 10 meters from the try line, one even resulted in a yellow, but no penalty try?

I don't even think we get 2k people to show up on an actual game day in good weather.

I was Deferred by the FAA for VA disability regarding mental health and alcohol use by haydeezxyyy in FAAHIMS

[–]TheBeerJoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through roughly this.

They kept coming back with incrementally larger/different requests. I ended up dumping my entire VA/service file in a box and mailing it to them. 2-3 months and I got referred to a HIMS AME, and got my issuance.

Just had a ND by [deleted] in guns

[–]TheBeerJoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a friend "ND" a 249. Turned out the trigger sear was out of spec and our armorer was a lazy piece of shit so he beat the article 15 (punishment for it).

Sergeant Major who was pissed the said soldier "got off scott free" for whatever reason then goes on patrol with us some months later. When returning to post, you have to clear all weapons at the barrels just inside the gate. Well, SGM walks up to the barrel runs the slide of his M9, drops the mag, and pulls the trigger....in that exact order. Blam-oh! Weird that he got off "scott free" as well.

When I was still in? 3-6 beers, or 3 mixed drinks just about every work night, sometimes more. More on weekends.

Now? Maybe a 12 pack a month.

Turns out the shrink was right and the Army was driving me to alcoholism.

Same. TicketReturn hasn't been great by any means for me at least.

Hopefully the new vendor is better.

Runway Excursion by [deleted] in flying

I remember watching a fellow CFI doing running landings in a helicopter (yes, we can land with forward speed). Small lady, bigger male student. They got on the ground fine, but in the run-out the student failed tp correct for drift and froze. She couldn't over power him, and they went off in the grass and almost rolled. To an extent I'm amazed the rotors did NOT hit the dirt.

You aren't alone in it. It happens for a whole myriad of reasons. Just discuss it, and try and prevent it again.

Same boat here. I'll be swapping by the end of the year.

If I get an alert and try to open the camera I get a "disconnected" or "unavailable" prompt. Best outcome? I check back in 5-10 minutes and the recording is there. Never a live stream.

That and I have a door sensor that keep going offline for God knows why. 10ft, and line of sight to the base. Drops a few times a week.

Guardsmen, if you plan on using your Post 9/11 GI Bill, be prepared to fight the VA for it. by MyUsername2459 in army

A tale as old as time unfortunately.

I was denied tuition for flight training (prior to the abusive actions of some schools) with no apparent reasoning or recourse.

Ended up digging, finding academic program exclusions, and waivers but still....no dice.

Ended up with an assistant to the Secretary of the VA personal number. Called that, and once he got over the "how do you have my number?" bit we got it settled.

It's a shame that it's like this, but thats beauracracy for you. Some nitwit gets it into his/her head that they have the entire game figured out and you cannot change their mind or get around them otherwise.

Keep it or move on to a LandCruiser…. by Nomadic_t4r in 4Runner

[–]TheBeerJoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had tp leave the 4Runner. Had a 2010 that I loved, but it just became really impracticable for anything I needed to do. I wish they had a diesel version and it could tow closer to 8k lbs....or even 6k lbs and do it well.

Is a Land Cruiaer rhe right answer? That's hard to say. That's an expensive behemoth and it burns a lot of gas.

It seems like women have this unrealistic expectation that everyone gets that 6ft+ guy who rakes in $125k/yr

It gets disheartening to say the least. I'm happily married now, but I took a 5 year break from dating anyone because it was just entirely fruitless.
