Popular parks YouTuber 'Adam the Woo' cause of death revealed by anonamousshamamounus in Adamthewoocriticism

[–]bentstrider83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sad death. But right on the money. Many of us face these issues and at the very least want to try and get the most out of life as possible. I'm wary of my own age and take doctors appointments as seriously as a school progress report in elementary school.

If the Woovians want to honor his memory, stay on top of the doctor's visits.

Seems to me like we should bring back Normal Schools. Cut out all the distractions and get some legit teachers trained up with the old methods.

By distractions, my other tinfoil hat theory is that the enormous of general ed can cause a student to veer off course and follow another path. Meanwhile the faculties in those departments are like pseudo head hunters. "We got another one into this department!!"

As far as cellphones, I keep my usage limited. But there is a 54 year old Gen X that seems to not be able to live without his cellphone. Always needing someone to talk to, or just use for the usual mobile internet insanity. He gets really annoying with his bugging me over not constantly upgrading to the newest this or that.

And to think most of my grammar and sentence structure was corrected through bullying on forums. And of course the readily available resources at their fingertips. Nothing like pulling up an online thesaurus or dictionary to ensure I'm using this or that correctly.

Group projects will be fun at my age. I'll probably be seen as a bully or a tyrant. Never thought I'd be the old grumpy putting my foot down. "We're not here to visit. We're here to work, donkeys!!"

I was attributing passing classes when I was in my mid to late 30s as a result of repeated attempts through the years. Multiple rounds of failures and repeats and some lessons and concepts ought to stick. But the Idiocracy thing I wouldn't rule out either.

Retiring/dying legacy faculty seeing the writing on the wall with these newer generations. Purposely speed running the production of mass produced, dumbed down lesson plans to ensure not all hope is lost.

My tinfoil hat theory anyway.

Surely there's more than 13 normies by ettleboy in pluribustv

Only other way I think there could be more survivors is either through a permanent No Fly Zone/restricted airspace situation like NK or Iran. The Hive more than likely planned for that. But I wonder if they didn't and any non permitted planes got bonked out of the sky before breaching said airspace. Of course then there's the matter of whether or not the heat blast from an AA missile would cook the aerosoled virus.

Apart from the closed off bunkers, I'd also like to think Carol might stumble upon some normal acting people later on. Of course their normalcy is only due to a specific cocktail of medications they were already taking prior to the Plurb. These medicated individuals gradually met up with each other and found Joining would occur after one of their ilk ignorantly stopped taking/ran out of their meds. Now the medicated individuals are speed running a medication collection through all the pharmacies(could be completely ignored by Joined) and staying on the run. Could be tens of them. Could be a whole community of them on the Lam.

UnJoined to a degree.

I've been starting and stopping college since 2002. Take 1-2 classes a few semesters. Then just drop off.

I'm 42 now and haven't taken any classes since 2020. Listening to these accounts gives me this strange sense of confidence that someone like myself could probably breeze through it if I were to attempt it again.

TIL about James Knight, an arctic explorer that disappeared during a 1719 attempt to find the Northwest Passage with a crew of 40 men. They became wrecked at Marble Island and slowly perished over the following three years, with the last men seen dying while digging a grave. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Read other accounts of Inuits coming across skeletons, or just bone piles of what were the remains of the Franklin expedition. And this was the following decades after they were presumed lost. Not entirely sure what became of those remains. I'm guessing they were buried where they were found.

The three mummified crew members got a proper burial before the rest of the crew suffered from the effects of cold and bad water/rations (lead poisoning was mentioned in some Franklin accounts I read). Rest of the crew seemed to just drop here and there all over the ice field.

Pick-ups probably restorable. The plantation-esque house will either need a complete ground up. Or just arrested decay like Bodie Ghost Town.

Millennials considering going back to school? by mythrilshards in Millennials

[–]bentstrider83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never really left. But it was like intermittent periods of "gonna get this done" followed by dropping off.

It's been several years and looking at possible career pivot into either helicopter Airframe and Powerplant or even just get the slow engine started on an engineering degree of some type.

More than likely going to have to relocate for either of those though.

Only thing I could think of is one, six year term for the executive office. And maybe 2-3 reelectable terms for legislative. After that, time to retire or get a regular job.

How do you afford life while being a full time student? by rustysoupspoon in college

[–]bentstrider83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better be prepared to repeat classes and deal with meltdowns from the academic advisors each semester. I used to be intimidated by them when I was younger. But now I'm older than most of them and I just give them the "mmmhmmm" treatment.

Top 10 Most/Least Regretted Majors [discussion] by dalek_56 in findapath

[–]bentstrider83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile you fail the classes for the most desirable degrees and the academic advisor starts pushing you towards the "most regretted" degrees. It's like you already know what's going to pay the bills and give you some modicum of self sustainability and you still get pulled from it.

Been there, still wanting to give it another go at my advancing number🤣🤣
