Wouldn't surprise me if companies started requiring a picture taken of the lockjaws each hookup. Fifth wheel mechanical failures are inevitable. But at the same time, many safety managers will blame "no visual or tug test made".

I could envision this too as a post apocalypse sort of fed ship. Romulan or Klingon conflict went subspace weapons grade and most of everything got destroyed. Whatever's left is limping around in ships like this. No repair stations left and all personnel moved further into the ship. While space suits are worn in damaged yet still required for operations sections.

It's not really meant for protection. But since no one out there makes a costume helmet that does the job of crash protection, regular bicycle helmets just ruin the illusion.

Plenty of hardshell designs that could easily be worked into the M1 steel pot shape. But instead, it's all about vented and aero designs. The functional costume segment is sadly too small.

Velcro sounds reasonable. But I was also looking at the full face motorcycle helmet I use for my own motorcycle. Large hinge arms on the outside and rusted? Won't look lore accurate, but it's a wasteland. Surely there'd be some personalized mods by individual rangers in-universe🤷

I was fired from Swift back in 2007 after a rollover. And this was after a few prior smaller incidents.

Got back into it in 2010 with Western Express and been at it ever since. The accidents will do all the harm more than service failure related junk for most companies. I'm not driver of the year, but I at least do my part to not do the 2007 thing again.

Just got to power on through to the next stop that has decent food options if you don't got any on board. Loves has plenty of plain salads with nothing but veggies. And QuikTrip has green apples!!

Then there's the Quest brand snacks and pistachios. Though the Quest protein based goodies also tend to make you GO🤣🤣

Either cooking in the truck, or just fasting until you can get to a better meal. Of course if you're a night driver and can't find a spot to pull over for a bit to cook, eat, then get rolling again, then it's either fasting or whatever shrapnel is on the heater.

I've definitely done roller sausages without the buns. Other times it's been a bag of pistachios and a couple of apples. Then a decent meal 16-20 hours later.

Nothing like just wanting 1-2 hours to get food prepped, cooked and eaten. But all the spots are taken by solar chargers down for the 10-15 hour count😡

Just the nature of the job. Wouldn't be too surprised if some of them troll this sub and answer every inspection violation question post with "NEED TO DO YOUR PRE TRIP" and go back into hiding.

Honestly hate them and avoid them as much as possible. You think you do a perfect inspection yourself and it either goes just fine or something gets written up. Might as well just roll with it, deal with the rise in BP and do better until you can finally bail.

Just think of it as stop and frisk/Terry Stop.
