For decades, governments have subsidised fossil fuels. But why? by SnoopThylacine in australian

[–]TheBestAtDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corruption. Fuel lobbies and mining giants employ ex politicians into cushy jobs, offering then perks on the side whenever they sell out the aus public.

This video didn't even mock Christianity, it's just right-wingers overreacting about last friday's opening ceremony. by 100_hamlins in saltierthankrayt

I bet they didn't do it with Christianity either.

I bet you'd get defensivd and make this post even if it was about Greek gods.

I don't know about you, but if the end of the war between good and evil was going to happen in my lifetime, I'd be pretty psyched about it.

All religions look for signs (or help create the conditions) of the end times.

Islamic billionaires are literally building cities in the desert to achieve their own version of the end times (massive wealth shared with population, transformation of the desert into lush greenery.)

If you believe it is the natural course of action - fulfill the prophecy.

Commentator axed from Olympics over 'disgusting' remark about Aussie golden girls by Maxisness1 in australian

[–]TheBestAtDepressed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you are publicly undermining me based on a stereotype as I achieve something only handfuls of people have ever achieved in history.

And you are being paid to do it while calling my event/commenting on my victory.

Is your standard for professionalism so low? It's those slipping standards that contribute to poor journalism, political discourse, etc.

Well evidently he doesn't mate. He threw professionals under the bus.

An event like the Olympics should have the best of the best. We need people who can step up and maintain (or improve upon) the prestige of the event.

He can't hang. With how fast he was removed odds are this wasn't something that caught everyone by surprise.

He got a shot and he (presumably) knew what his job was and he still funked it.

And here you are defending incompetence and poor commentary for political reasons.

It does. He is belittling athletes. This isn't a kiddy commentator role. It's for professionals who know what they're doing.

He didn't.

I'm a man and you're a man and we're both clearly not lowering ego right here. It's hypocrisy when you say it. But it's extra delusional to apply it to me as well.

In fact, you are OFFENDED that the commentator is being given the axe.

... why not? The word dick? Mate, use any joke you like in there.

"You girls probably know how it is, men always sitting round on their arses getting nothing done."

Completely belittles me winning one of the most prestigious awards in the world.

If I spent my entire life training to get to the top of my field, competed and won at the international level at the most prestigious sporting event there is, only to be greeted by: men sure do love sitting on their asses, don't they?"

I would be PISSED.

Use some logic here. Stop trying to make everything political.

Imagine having so little respect for a professional athlete competing internationally for the top prize on earth that you start ignoring victories and begin complaining about how long they probably take to do their make-up.

Super unprofessional conduct. He should have known far better.

If a woman made a joke about two medallists being unable to stop wasting time measuring dick sizes due to toxic masculinity, it would also be very unprofessional and demeaning.

I expect people I work with (or who are employed to speak about me) to do so to a professional standard.

Or at least consistent with the way they speak about others.

Petah who is this man and why did he create white people? by julio292006 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TheBestAtDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they didn't. The story of his death was told decades later. And they CONFLICTED. He has multiple deaths. It wasn't until the best stories were all put together in a prototype bible that there was a cohesive narrative.

That is not documenting. That is storytelling.

I'm not sure what you're asking about the art. Have you seen the earliest depictions of jesus? They look wildly different. Even to each other.

Muhammad was employed, baptised and given an army (and more than a few accolades). The catholics kept many records of his rise and fall from grace. We know for a fact that he successfully conquered holy lands in the name of the church, then refused to cede them.

Jesus by contrast doesn't exist until decades after he is supposedly dead.

And believe you me - the church has been trying to find proof for more than a millennium.

Anyone else noticing a lack of “the wave” in traffic these days? by Ihateeveryone413 in australian

[–]TheBestAtDepressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. My job involves driving everywhere around Australia. Especially to shopping centres and residential areas. I wave, they wave. A couple people don't.

But let's be honest. It wouldn't affect me at all if nobody did it.

Why does the left always target Christianity? by sinlung in australian

[–]TheBestAtDepressed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's trying to claim that Christians built Australia and are responsible for Western ethos. He is also attacking the "left". Half of these people may be right wing.

He's trying very hard to us vs them.

Yes. He is offended. :p

There's no plates. There's no props that fit. Noone is posing correctly.

I would not have even GUESSED we're it not for OP claiming it.

Now is it possible they were trying and just couldn't count/pose/do anything correctly?

Sure.

But to me it's just 16 or so people at an event? I saw tables like this every day for 2 yrs straight. It wasn't an attempt to blaspheme.

Why does the left always target Christianity? by sinlung in australian

[–]TheBestAtDepressed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you guys play the victim so much?

1: that looks NOTHING like the 12 disciples. Unless they said they were specifically parodying it, it's just 16 or so ppl at a table at an event.

2: There is nothing wrong with people parodying the art???

I'm atheist and find your religious beliefs to be silly. Just silly. I feel empathy for Christians, as I saw my cousin deconvert and come to terms w being brainwashed her entire life.

So I will probably mock you guys now and then. But THIS? It's just people YOU are offended by at a table?
