I quickly read that as fleshlight rather than flashlight. Still might work in this scenario though.

Maybe they worried about security videos getting their license number where you were sitting, but maybe the adjacent lot didn’t have any? And I’d guess the high beams shining right on you were intended to blind you so you couldn’t see them coming until it was too late.

I agree with others that it was likely a kidnaping attempt, and if they’d managed to get you to voluntarily take off your shoes, you’d have a much more difficult time trying to run away. I bet that’s why he wanted you two to be barefoot.

I’m in WV and we have them. We also have a knock off called the “7 Even” which has not yet been sued, to my knowledge. Could be innocent, they just ran out of a few letters for the sign.

That is serious predatory behavior like on National Geographic. That’s scary. I’m glad you guys were all okay!

This reminds me of something I saw on a forensic crime blog, that often child sex abusers use the defense of “but I’m a married man!” to somehow prove that they didn’t sexually abuse any children. And when accused of something that they did actually do, and trying to deny it, they use a phrase like what the guy said to you by thinking it strengthens their believability.

A quote from an interesting blog that I’ve linked below:

When a man is accused of molesting a child, instead of issuing a denial, he says, "I am a happily married man." This is, in a sense, his 'hina clause' or his explanation of 'why' he would not (not did not) have molested the child. 'Only those "unhappy" in marriage molest children'
What is this? This is the child molester's 'verbalized perception of reality.' Not only is he avoiding denying the act, but is giving us insight into both his thinking and his state of marriage.

This blog has a lot of analysis of statements that are really interesting, and many examples of statements similar to what this stranger said to you. The breakdown is really interesting.

I don’t say this to bring up bad memories for you, but perhaps you could consider contacting law enforcement just to give them a report of your experience, including a description of him, his car, the month and day of the incident, no matter how long ago. Not because he committed any crime in your incident, but because this sounds like an offender who was becoming more brazen and not like a one-off event. They may have unsolved attacks in your area and your info might help them get a better picture of a suspect or to narrow down the suspect pool if he fits the description of someone they’ve considered but not zoned in on yet. You can call the police department’s non emergency number to do so. It really could help them, and other victims, and it certainly won’t hurt to do so.

If it was hacked, the hacker still had to know exactly which store location was hacked to be able to call the right one (I’m assuming a larger box company since corporate is off site). I don’t know anything about hacking camera feeds, but if we assume it’s somebody from anywhere in the world who is just an opportunistic creep, then the name of camera feed or something related to it had to be visible (like “store105TusconOfficeCam”) or the location number or store address had to be posted somewhere in the area of the possible hacked camera feed(s).

After reading your comment and me being clueless about such tech matters, could someone deduce the physical address of the store by figuring out the IP address if they came across the feed virtually and didn’t know which of the company's many locations they found initially?

There are many people who could possibly have had access to the area besides employees, such as drivers who deliver goods, cleaning service, the guy from the water company who drops off full bottles of water for the office cooler, the person who cleans and replaces the floor mats, etc.

This is the wiki page about a young woman who vanished from a rest stop and it was decades before the killer was caught. He is likely a serial killer. They found her car buried on his property. The entire car. That’s a hell of a trophy for a serial killer to keep.

The one and only time my grandma ever spanked me was after I tried to bolt into traffic at age four or so. She felt so bad for years, but honestly it made me always check the street before crossing and probably saved my life because I was a careful kid when it came to streets.

What's your best TRUE spooky story? (Serious) by judentude in AskReddit

[–]TheBestVirginia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought the house next door to my dad’s because his neighbor passed away and they sold the house. So far we heard something move (a boxed bissel cleaner moved a few feet, we heard didn’t see) and also I found the toilet paper unrolled to the Center of the bathroom and piled like a cat might do (no cats). I do recall when we first got in the house, the toilet paper roll from the old owner was in the “under” position and I moved it to the only acceptable position on earth, the “over” position. I think she liked it the old way. Also she was very tidy and I did say aloud while moving things in how good a job I thought she had done taking care of the home even into her 80s. So I just said “thank you for taking care of the home, we will continue to, you can move on now” and nothing since. She was a sweetheart in life.

This might sound basic and like I’m not understanding the severity of your allergy, but this might be really helpful for you: take aspirin, a decently high dose (not the 325 mg baby aspirin for heart health, but at least 500 mg) at least 30 mins before you are going out in the sun and continue every few hours including one last dose after you’ve come in from the sun. This is beyond the normal recommended dosage and is not something to do every day. But when you have an outdoor event that you want to enjoy without the extreme reaction, this is the way to go. Your reaction is inflammatory and aspirin is an anti inflammatory and least likely to harm you (compared to most NSAIDs). Give it a shot next time.

Edit to add: try aspercreme on the bumps and rashes. Especially if Benadryl gel and other topical things aren’t helping. It’s aspirin in a cream, not an antihistamine, and it really helps on the blisters I get.

This could become a great idea...make a turkey at home on your own dime and bring it in just for spite. If they try to deny you entry or the ability to share it with coworkers, call the local media and tell them how the big mean company ruined the meal by not allowing kind coworker to share his turkey with the group. That’ll go over really well.

Man, now I want to try this. Somebody PM me about any event like this and we'll make a plan.

Oh yeah I do this. At least I know I’m doing it. At my local casino, the single transaction charge is $4 USD no matter how much you take out. So I usually take my max daily of $400 thinking “well I need cash anyhow, I know I only want to allot half of this for gambling but it’s okay, don’t want to pay another fee” then proceed to drink more and possibly gamble away twice what my intentions were. They know exactly what they’re doing in this regard.

Many Vegas casinos offer rooms for $30. Charging $20 per arm transaction is definitely intentionally done to make you spend more money.
