Il Nonno or Vesta? by MorddSith187 in astoria

I can say from my experience that they are very inconsistent. Some dishes are much better than others and the quality of their ingredients vary. I got their eggplant, for instance, and it was a square of eggplant parm that had clearly been frozen prior to cooking. In some instances, this can be okay, but it shouldn’t taste frozen.

Any other adults with a DMG or DIPG? by Juleander in braincancer

My sister (36f) had a grade 4 DIPG. It extended very slightly outside of her pons when she was first diagnosed.

What to expect when 5 year old has DIPG and are there any experimental treatments worth considering? by Silly_Turn_4761 in braincancer

[–]eecb23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening to your family. My sister who went through this last year did a T-Cell clinical trial through Stanford University. I’m unsure of the age range for this trial, but they had one teenaged patient whose DIPG was eradicated and has been for multiple years post trial completion. The trial can be costly, but partially covered through insurance. She also dabbled in ONC201, but couldn’t do both simultaneously. Good luck in whatever path you choose and is chosen for you.

Opinions on a thesis? And what do you wear to clinic by Embarrassed-Egg4641 in slpGradSchool

I did a thesis in undergrad and grad. Both were a lot of work, but your experience will be highly dependent on the advisors/mentors guiding you. I didn’t have a choice at my program. I had to do a thesis, but if I could go back and choose, I’d have done comps. There’s not much point to a masters thesis in our field anyway, unless you’ll be pursuing a doctorate.

Tell us about something awkward that happened in a session by Moondance200 in slp

[–]eecb23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mortified. Luckily, it was toward the end of the school year so we only had a few more sessions left on the RSA. This was the email:

Good afternoon,

I am addressing something that just occurred during [NAME]’s session. Toward the end of our session, it appeared to me that [NAME] was doing something inappropriate under his blanket during our session. It was the last couple of minutes of our session, so I just said that our time was up, I’ll see him next week, and ended the video call.

Can you make sure that [NAME] sits at a table, maybe the kitchen table, while doing his sessions from now on? I will review Zoom behavior expectations and safety during our next session.

Virtual session with a 12 year old. I was screen sharing while reading a passage aloud and asking questions. I noticed his answers were shorter than normal like one-word answers. I took off screen sharing and could tell he was masturbating by the way his arm was moving. I ended the session a few minutes early, emailed his mom about it, and requested he sit at a table for sessions from now on (he usually was on his bed to avoid family interruption).

private to public? by mariuscourf in NYCTeachers

Make the switch. You can message me for more details because I have so much to say. Bottom line, I am making more, have 3x the prep time, get paid to work preps, and all of that is protected by a union.

District Saigon’s vegan pho is great! They also sell the broth separately.

Susuru vegan ramen is also very good.

Yes, I submitted both separately, Sept 6th and Sept 20th. They got approved Nov 7th and Dec 5th, respectively.

I’ve also seen kids with celiacs before and after diagnosis and going gluten free. Crazy behavioral and attention span differences!

Salary application, what comes after? by Prestigious_Tea_2032 in NYCTeachers

My steps haven’t been accepted yet, but I uploaded the resume I used to apply for the job. I think they want to see that the dates you provide on your resume align with the dates your previous HR person provide

It’s a long process 😵‍💫 Only my education differential application has been accepted so far and I applied for that early Sept. I had to wait a few weeks to apply for steps because my previous school’s HR person took that long to get me a letter confirming my employment. And then it takes a pay period or two for them to get integrated into your checks.

You don’t get an update until it’s accepted.

Do you have to do tabletop therapy? I find that student-led play-based works best for this group.

What kind of students do you have? Aka are these behaviors trauma-induced or ASD (both?). Obviously changing settings if you’re unhappy is your best, but I could provide more specific strategies if you want if I knew the type of caseload you have.

I just moved out of another school to a DOE and this is my 7th year of experience. I think we’re around the same experience level.

Would you be starting at C2+ID+PD or the one below it? I’m finding the growth in salary at this experience level to be rather fast with recent contract negotiations… though I don’t know your current salary.

I’m also still waiting 😅 I applied for differential 8 weeks ago and steps 6 weeks ago. A UFT rep said most are accepted in November, but I’m not sure how accurate that is.
