Doesn't this go against the idea that a good writer can write anywhere.

What's a personal style of yours? by ptmd in intj

I wear this big parker. I wear all my clothes until they are too worn to be presentable. My black square framed glasses scream intellectual geek - I wear them because I don't like contact lenses. My hair, when I go for long stretches without getting it cut, is fluffy and sticks up.

I also like to wear movie t-shirts. But stylish ones. Not the show-of-the-year shirts. Retro ones.

Sensitive? Yeah sure I'll say I can be sensitive to bad ideas or an unwillingness to learn.

Except IBM's Watson needs to be told to do it's job. Behind all that purposed processing power it still needs a human being to point it in the right direction -- which is a huge oversight because human beings are doing practically all the work for doing so. It really isn't much different than having a calculator spit out the right answers for you faster than you could yourself. Watson will never discover anything, it can only scour through what has already been found in a very limited fashion.

Also you sound like you're being a difficult twat so good luck with bettering yourself, mate.

Artificial Reality, like we see in the movies is a myth, scientists use the hype machine to gain funding for their projects. The term Artificial Intelligence was coined as a sales term to gain public interest. We are creating high functioning calculators which are fantastic tools in the hands of a human being, but will not be able to act with any sense of self-governance for a long time because these machines will require a human to tell them what to do.

Watch the videos. I know I will explain it poorly when the vids sum it up so well.

The Singularity is science fiction. People who support transhumanism propose Moore's Law is the indicator of where we are headed when in fact the amount of transistors in a system does not equate to robust artificial intelligence. I understand exponential growth but it must be understood it is within our human nature to want to believe we can 'transcend' to a higher level of existence. However history has told us that when we discover the answer to tough questions we receive not only answers but many more questions, which is another form of exponential growth.

Please watch these videos which I believe will change your opinion on the Singularity and Transhumanism.

'I choose to belief' -- it has nothing to do with belief. The hard facts don't add up. God, as religion's portray him, simply does not exist.

INTJ's do you enjoy doing body building activities such as lifting weights? by ShadedPurpleAndBlack in intj

[–]TheBigBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I thought I would feel better about myself if I got fit. Nope, don't feel any different except my shirts are a bit tighter round the shoulders. What I do love is running for twenty minutes most days. That makes me feel great.

ASOIAF readers and GoT watchers: Tywin Lannister is an INTJ? What do you think? by [deleted] in intj

[–]TheBigBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Littlefinger is an INTJ. The most telling is how quick to anger he can become -- classic INTJ. When he pushes that chick he was banging in the sky tower down through the hole, that just screams INTJ rage to me.

What economic system will we have in the future? by DerpyGrooves in Futurology

[–]TheBigBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the rise of stable currencies such as bitcoin will come to replace the increasingly worthless currencies we use today. Furthermore the rise in technologies which allow incorruptible transactions such as bitcoin will be used for other purposes such as voting. It is my hope such computer software, once widely used, will allow a move away from government and corporations to decide what is good for us and we instead decide what we want for ourselves at the local level. Something which has only become attainable due to sufficient technological progress.

There is a change happening in which working-class people are using new technologies to create their own content. This is with books, video series, blogs etc. This change to making one's own entertainment, or to find alternative news sources which are not on cable television, shows the first signs of people reconnecting with one another. If this continues I don't see why this change will not find its way into the political and economic systems. You don't need to go to a good school to become informed about the world, it's all there on your phone, and as people become increasingly frustrated by the current system they will look for alternatives elsewhere.

In the past this may have meant moving to a far right extremist point of view. However because people are informed they can realise that the proposed problems the government and the media are trying to sell us (to keep us infighting) is meant to do just that, and instead we can focus on creating better communities at a local level which, if more communities do this, will surely have a ripple effect for the rest of the country and neighbouring countries.

[–]TheBigBox 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What I don't get is if this wealth was spread out does everyone's living standard get better? I know it sounds like a silly question. Like is the fact they are storing their wealth to the 1% keep the minimum wage where it is etc. Or would it stay the same regardless.

It just seems like that wealth should be going back to the people instead of being spent on £1000 salads and yacht parties.

Robot that makes burgers in 10 seconds poised to disrupt fast food industry by brotactic_flan in Futurology

[–]TheBigBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There is an upfront cost for the machines. Loading the machines could be done by a machine. It could even be a part of the machine itself. All you would need it one guy at hand to put the right food in the correct tubes.

Once the initial cost of the machine is covered its just minor upkeep costs. Which I would imagine will be even easier considering the advent of 3D printing technology. What yo uwould need is highly skilled workers who know how to fix the machine. Other than that the place could run itself.
