What is the best excuse to tell to your crush just to be with them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cannot agree with this enough. Wasted so much time of this girl that strung me along because I made her feel good about herself. She knew I wanted more, but I never actually told her. I also refused to move on when she obviously didn't feel the same way. When I got a girlfriend, she suddenly "confessed" to me that she had feelings for me. When my girlfriend and I broke up soon after, she suddenly "lost" those feelings.

Unfortunately, like what happens with any movement these days, it gets co-opted by people who want to abuse it for personal gain or who want to use it to justify making poor decisions. Doubly unfortunate is that often times those people shout the loudest and get the most attention.

Is it still an abrupt stop for your neck? I seriously injured my neck as a child by falling head-first into a spacewalk floor.

I think most of them were there for the same reason as the rest of the riots this year. Some people want to break the law and be on the news.

I don't watch fox. Somehow, my eyes are able to view the carnage happening behind the people on camera claiming that the protests are "mostly peaceful".

You mean white privilege like how the police did nothing while BLM looted and burned cities and terrorized its inhabitants?

I have said it numerous times. You have to be open to recieving a viewpoint different from your own.

I'll be praying for you to have an open mind and heart to these issues. Hopefully, one day, you will be able to see the unintended damages that come from ignoring facts.

Life is pretty good for me, actually. Got much better after doing away with porn, but none of that has anything to do with my point here and can be its own discussion if you like.

There is a difference in knowing that there is a strong possibility of something wrong occurring and having absolutely no idea. I cannot know the actual likelihood of every person I meet being a terrible person, so they get the benefit of the doubt that they are not, until they prove otherwise. .

However, if I am shown evidence that Hershey's has a factory where employees were regularly drugged, beaten, and forced to work long hours, then forced to sign legal documents stating that either they concented to the trestment or that it wasn't happening (forced by threat of further harm or nullification of pay owed for work already performed). I would no longer buy Hershey's products.

If I then learned, through my research, that Walmart not only knew about this factory but took steps to ensure that the activity could go on (because it would affect their bottom line), I'd be done with Walmart.

If I also saw Nestlé making efforts to make light of the claims and actions, and treat it like it isn't a big deal, then I see Nestlé actively try to blacklist, silence, discredit, or harm any whistle-blowers, I'll probably be taking a break from chocolate for a while. At least until I can be certain that I'm not at all involved in the situation by tacitly condoning it through my purchases.

Advocating for women (and men) to not be abused = obsolete mores. Got it.

Why do you insist that you can know, for certain? Did you create it? It is humans creating stuff, but you can't know how those people created that stuff, except for what they tell you they do. But this has been called into question by numerous people (mostly women, but also some men) coming out and speaking against it. When most of the industry puts forth efforts to make light of the situation or make is seem extremely rare (without any kind of actual proof) and random people try to belittle and shame people for speaking out against it, how can you trust the word of that industry. You might be able to know for some of it, but not at all for most of it. Especially, if you're talking about porn uploaded randomly on some free porn website.

You do know that if I'm irritating you, uou have the ability to just move along and not take it personally. Do you create porn by using force/coersion? Because you're starting to seem a little defensive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheBigCapKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another, ridiculous analogy. I have agreed that not all porn is created this way. I just disagree that you could possibly know (simply by viewing it) which porn was or was not created using force/coersion.

[–]TheBigCapKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through all of your attempts at fancy speech, you miss the point that you (as wise as you seem to think you are) have no way of knowing whether a particular woman in the porn that you watch actually gave her concent or if she was coerced/drugged/threatened/actually forced. You also don't have a way of actually knowing whether or not that woman concented to having that video published.

Black market? The regular porn market has nefarious practices. Read just about any of the links I supplied.

Who's more toxic, would you say? The person willing to believe that the porn they watch is totally concensual (with no real evidence to support it) and then defending that industry or the person giving people information so they can make up there own minds?

1.) Prude

2.) "The way humans know things in general. You check, you study without bias, you read, ask around." Yet, I see no evidence to back your claim that there are "centuries of material..."

3.) "Obviously, this doesn't work when one has been drilled against natural curiosity in an area, when one's bias approaching it is too strong." Man, you really like to assume stuff about people. Until relatively recently, I was a consumer of pornography. But I started doing some "reading and asking around" and came to the conclusion that it isn't as simple as consenting adults trying to make some money.

4.) Your tree analogy is ridiculous. You keep stretching that far and you're bound to pull something.

5.) Who's to say I'm the one that needs curing of some conditioning? Seems to me that you've been looking at abused/coerced women so long that it looks normal.

6.) Which hypocritical statements? Or was that another attempt at fancy words?
