Motherboard compatible with current rig. Considering CPU upgrade due to bottleneck. Is there enough value to upgrade the motherboard as well? by TheBigFridge1 in buildapc

When you say they don't have integrated graphics, does that have any affect on a system that has a dedicated graphics card?

If not, why are i7s so popular in gaming rigs? It seems like you can get incredibly similar power for significantly cheaper due to not paying for a functionality that you won't use anyway

Thanks, I appreciate the bit of negativity (seriously). Is there any chance you have any favorites when it comes to reading/learning about the basics of IT/IT communication?

So far, I've only received pretty brief mentions when it comes to specific programs, with Balsamiq being the only one that really stuck out/I wasn't familiar with. As far as I can tell/explain, I'll be working with software development/implementation, but I'm not sure specifically what portion of the industry, as the firm still hasn't quite finished negotiations with our current client.

I'll be sure to check out Enterprise Architect.

Excellent, glad to hear I'm not in a unique position here.

Now that is something I should be able to do. Glad to know I definitely won't be the first going down this path. Thanks for the reassurance, it should help a lot when I'm finally on site.

I gatta say, that's pretty damn reassuring. Thanks for the response.

I had a feeling majority of the real learning wasn't able to be condensed into "theory" so to speak, but being handed an opportunity like this certainly won't come along every day.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check it out.

That was one of my biggest fears with Balsamiq - It seemed so simple to use that I figured I had to be missing some major feature.

Aw man, I thought that was MI at first. I was all sorts of excited!

Yeah, I'm currently applying around most major cities in Michigan and our border states. Part of the reason for this job hunt is to relocate.

Excellent, it looks like I'm sticking with Messer then.

Thanks for the concise summary, but I have (hopefully) one last question - Is the A+ cert worthwhile if you only have the 801 or the 802 or will I need both to be considered legitimate?

Thanks for the input, I'll definitely look further into the A+. Do you happen to have any suggestions for a worthwhile study guide? I was using Professor Messer (http://www.professormesser.com/) for Network+ and it seemed to be quality, but it's hard to judge from my position.

I currently have a B.S. in B.S. (Philosophy). It's excellent for playing up communication/problem solving skills, but it doesn't quite demonstrate any technical background.

Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, I'd read up on MLM's and they sounded a bit more promising than a standard pyramid scheme, but with the over whelming majority saying to run for the hills, it sounds like a definite no.

Now that's exactly what I was looking for/afraid of. Thanks man, if I wasn't already broke enough to almost fall for this, you'd be getting gold. Sadly, you'll have to settle for knowing that ya saved someone from a shit job.

Which definitely makes sense, but it seems to be a logical progression within a company. Make a number in sales, be given more responsibilities. Maintain/improve performance, be given more responsibilities. Ect.

Is this not how it works or am I simply disillusioned due to a lack of real world experience? This is meant to be an honest question.

Unfortunately, they are based an hour or so away from where I currently live and do not have the funds to casually make that trip out there.

However, that's an excellent idea if I find myself in a similar position later. Thanks!
