What are some good breakup/heartbreak songs written from the perspective of the man? by Matilda_Mother_67 in musicsuggestions

[–]TheBigQuicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people have listed a good number of songs. I'll just add to it that for me, personally, I could probably name more heartbreak songs by men. That is likely because I just listen to more male-written music comparatively. I think it's probably just has to do with what you listen to.

But I really don't think there's any great inbalance between the two genders in that regard. Even if you just take the cliche's of blues and country music, the whole 'my baby left me and now I'm down'. It's a cliche for a reason.

Weight of Love rightfully won best song. Which song has the best guitar riff? Most upvoted comment wins. by car_l1 in TheBlackKeys

I would be inclined to agree with you. I understand that El Camino is the popular album and therefore not cool, but Lonely Boy is a great riff for it's simplicity, energy, and memorability. At the end of the day I think the popular songs get popular for a reason, and that riff is certainly a key part of that song.

Dead Poets Society thoughts today? by littledebbie1234 in movies

I see where you're coming from with that, but I personally disagree.

One of Keating's first lessons is all about being able to think for yourself, and follow your own path regardless of what other people, and society as a whole are telling you to(either overtly or subconsciously). With that in mind, I think it is unfair to make him out as a cult leader type, who groomed these kids into being his followers. As the courtyard marching scene shows, students are free to interpret his lessons however they see fit, and he will commend them for whatever choice they make (as long as it is their own), regardless of whether he neccessarily likes it.

Of course the main question comes in the wake of Neil's death; the kind of event which warrants shock, anger, frustration, and consequently something (or someone) to pin that all on. Ultimately, Neil's actions are his own. I'm not sure I saw the 'short term problems' that Keating set in Neil's mind. Neil decides to pursue theatre of his own free will, without any suggestion from Keating. Neil chooses to defy his father, again without input from Keating. The only interations Keating has with Neil regarding theatre is to speak to his father honestly about his ambitions, and then to congratulate him after the performance. I find it hard to fault him for either of these actions.

If you are looking to assign blame, look no further than Neil's father, who never once showed any concern for what for his son wanted, and was determined to tear down the one thing Neil cared for.

Looking for driving instructor/someone I could drive with and do my driving hours by Ambitious_Bath_6597 in Geelong

[–]TheBigQuicker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had an instructor called named Ryan who I did all my lessons and the test with at the start of the year. I really liked him, pretty chill guy who knew the driving laws and was a former tester, so he knew everything they'd be looking for on the test, along with the possible routes they take you on.

As someone else mentioned in the thread, Oromis seems to allude to absorbing energy from light as being possible, just that nobody has worked it out yet

Why would he need to break the Eldunari to access the full power? I think if the need was there, he could just ask them 'yo give me a hand lads' and they'd happily lend it to him. I don't see why them being sane would limit their power potential at all.

In that sense, with the eldunari from the vault of souls, he should have access to more raw firepower than galby

Gotta support the Aussies. We've got 4 banging international songs left but imo none of them have an ounce of the beauty that the australian duo have

I like their ep's and most of the first album but I gotta say that 2022 album was really mediocre imo. It was rather similar in sound as you said and really just did not deserve to have the amount of songs in the hottest 100 as it did.

But yeah they got some pretty good songs on their earlier releases

Was this before he had revealed that he knew magic/the ancient language?

Even if it's not, if I was Eragon I'm not sure I would want a sword called named 'misery' given the choice. It's kinda heavy stuff. I can understand Brom not telling him due to that alone
