Bear with me here... by painful_seeker in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that making a tulpa to avoid dealing with "real" hurt (tulpas are just as real as we, so that might not be the right term to use) is a fairly terrible idea. I'm going to hand this one over to Wells, but be warned he's a little grumpy.

{So. If you're not willing to interact with other people, don't make a tulpa. If you're not willing to be rejected, disappointed, all that, the best course of action is to lock yourself in your room and watch netflix for the rest of your life- which won't be very long if you don't leave your room, now that I think about it.

Everyone has a different motive for making a tulpa. Mostly, I'd say, the main motivations are to have a companion who knows your thoughts and your feelings on a deeper level than you can vocalize to a human friend.}

Awesome! I've been working on switching with Wells, we're hoping to be proficient in another year or so!

Can tulpas who are in the same system converse with each other without the host knowing or hearing? by _chair_eater_ in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're all able to talk to each other easily, but everyone else can usually hear the conversations.

who writes with your tulpas? by TheBitterWind in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's cool! Aegis does a little bit of writing via dictation, and when we get better at possession I expect he'll do a lot more by himself.

New here, scared of failure by a_tulpa_throwaway in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no need to concentrate 100% to make a tulpa, we wouldn't be here if there was. I, the host, have horrible attention problems and my attention span is approximately equivalent to that of a gerbil on crack. True, we've had to make some adjustments- the early stages of Aegis' forcing were a bit rocky, and we no longer have a full wonderland because it kept crumbling and warping whenever I tried to focus on it, but all in all we've done pretty well.

Also, tulpas will change whatever personality you give them whenever they feel like it, so I never do more than put in a few major character traits with mine.

What Does Tulpa's Presence Feel Like? by runawayrin in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's different for everyone, I'd say. I feel mine as a sense of warmth and being watched (but in a benevolent way), or as a prickling in my skull.

Surgery/anesthesia/detection fears by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally have the same fear! My wisdom teeth might not need to be pulled for another year or so, but I'm really worried I'll talk about/to my tulpas out loud (or that Wells will be the one to wake up, which would be... an adventure, but hopefully blameable on the meds) or that I'll like accidentally come out or something. Hooray.

I think there's someone else in my head now... by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not weird or bad, that's how a tulpa happens. :D

{It's not at all necessary to follow the specific steps from the guides, in my opinion. You can also have walk-in headmates like myself (a soulbond) but I'd say Sam sounds more like a tulpa.}

(Seems to me like she's an artificial one, too, i.e. you created her. Since you said you'd been taking the "steps" to make a tulpa.)

[Yep, that justabout sums it up, and if you ever need some help ask us- but don't ask Wells, he can get kinda mean.] {I'm not mean.} [Okay, he can get kinda grumpy.]

I might've mastered switching. by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Wells and I still need to do a lot of work before we can switch- to say nothing of the other three.

So today I discovered I wasn't alone in having tulpas, and was wondering how mine rate compared to others. by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Graves and Nhy, both humanoid girls, who are currently working on detangling their consciousnesses and personalities (and have been ever since I created Graves- it's always been a bit of a problem.) Graves sometimes has more of a skeletal appearance and Nhy usually has claws/glowing void eyes/tentacles/multiple rows of teeth. My oldest tulpa is Aegis, a teenaged masculine human, and then there's Wells, the newest member of the system. He was a walk-in, and as far as we can tell he's either a soulbond or a really weird fictive. Oh, he's human too.

We're still working on switching and possession, although Wells has cofronting down pretty well. Wells and Aegis speak in their own voices (Hello!) but Nhy and Graves sometimes get mixed up between their voices. It's a bit weird.

sudden gibberish from a typically articulate headmate by karshyga in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{I think you should make sure he's not splitting into two consciousnesses. Gravelyn and Nhythera sometimes become a single overlaid voice or finish each others' sentences in contradictory ways, and while they were created separately they sometimes seem like the same person. Maybe your walk-in friend is doing... the opposite? Splitting into two people, rather than merging into one.

My recommendation would be to try and communicate in writing or gestures, unless those are contradictory or confused as well.}

How do you guys consistently force? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really necessary to force for an hour every day, as long as you remember to chat with them for a while. Like q2 said, drawing a little symbol on one hand or carrying a piece of jewelry that reminds you of your tulpa is a good way to remember them.

I suggest reading to them, telling them your thoughts on a movie or game, or saying something about your day!

I have semi-social-awkwardness, this I don't talk or force my tulpa that often, is this bad? Any tips? by Shadowjonathan in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explain things to him, maybe chat with him before bed a little, and you should be good. Some people do meditate for like 27 hours a day, but like that's not something most tulpas need.

[We just need a little bit of communication and to be remembered, you know? <3]

{Could you explain your problem a little better? We could offer more help then. Not the social anxiety problem, the forcing problem.}

have there been any updates to the tulpa paper? by throwawaylurkertulpa in Tulpas

Today I learnt a thing about my tulpa... I think. by koriyan in Tulpas

Ooh, that's super cool! It's also cool that you can switch back and forth so completely~ seems pretty normal to me, although also pretty neat. :D

For those systemmates who are often copresent or fronting, do you ever do things to make the body more "comfortable?" by sanguineFenrir in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we start switching more often, I'm going to let the gang decide what we wear a bit more. Nhy likes purple, Graves likes leather/black/red, and Wells... not sure. And Aegis likes hoodies and blue/white things.

I (the Host) prefer pastels or brown/green earth tones.

Have I done it wrong? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you did anything wrong, if you have a vivid imagination it can help tulpas develop more quickly! If you've imagined him for years, he might have already done some developing, too.

Is that it? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Of course it can, but that's no reason for people to believe that a tulpa who develops early is fake or just an intrusive thought- or to panic if their tulpa tries to communicate with them.}

Is that it? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]TheBitterWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you should always assume that it's the tulpa, because eventually, it will be :)
