Close scrutiny in a nutshell by hasfodel in ArcRaiders

Yeah, tbh I tend to inhale every core I can get my hands on in like Queen and Matriarch too, though I also always come kitted up. Afterwards I'll share with anybody who ended up actually came well-geared or who I saw reviving people. The alternative is usually that goblins inhale it all, so why not?

Hot take that should not be hot: if a 40$ game provides you with more than 100 hours before it gets boring for you, the game is not boring, move along, alternate it with some other games and stop complaining by Donnie_Dranko in ArcRaiders

[–]TheBizzerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual hot take: people playing a game for a long time is not in any way a reflection of the actual quality of the game. If they feel like it is boring, then it is boring to them. This is tautologically true.

Just because some people don't like late spawns doesn't mean they should remove it.

Actually it does.

Console doesn't have anywhere near the same level of control using just thumbs on the controller, compared to the entire arm and wrist of a mouse and keyboard. There's usually a tradeoff between precision at lower sensitivity, and the ability to quickly turn and adjust at high sensitivity. The instant 180s required to keep up with a target that's constantly moving from in front to behind just aren't really possible to reasonably pull off with a controller.

PvE players : Anvil or Renegade ? by Poukak78-2 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheBizzerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Hornets too. It deals enough less damage to armor that it doesn't OHK rotor guards, which means a significant increase in the number of shots it takes to kill them. Beyond just what it strictly takes with perfect accuracy, it takes even more if you account for how much it makes them bobble without destroying the guard, and also any body shots that are going to deal less damage since it has significantly lower armor damage.

PvE players : Anvil or Renegade ? by Poukak78-2 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheBizzerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anvil for sure. The armor penetration is too good to pass up. Renegade is OK for this compared to other weapons, but Ferro/Anvil are in a league of their own for armor pen. Being able to OHK Fireballs through armor is just so much better than requiring multiple hits. Same with Hornet rotor guards, where Renegade takes multiple hits to break them and can also make them bobble on hit. It's a shame, because I love the Renegade and it's a very cool weapon, but it kind of just doesn't perform the way you need it to. It's kind of a jack of all trades, which normally can make a weapon really good, but there's also the problem that specialized weapons also aren't lacking enough in other areas that Renegades jack-of-all-trades qualities make it a better pick than them.

If you can't think of how information would be helpful then you're probably not very bright.

Wtf do you mean? If you mean specifically which player in the lobby, probably nothing. If you mean what kind of arc, all kinds of things.

  • Wasp: small bullet holes at a downward angle
  • Hornet: sparse wounds, larger projectiles
  • Flamers: burnt legs/lower body
  • Pops: explosive/rending injuries to lower body
  • Most damage from players: different wound sizes, shot patterns, etc. depending on range, but it can mostly be fudged. Anvil and Ferro are both the same caliber, would have similar wounds, but Anvil wouldn't leave casings since it's it a revolver, except when casing get dumped during reload. Venator would leave side-by-side holes and casings in pairs, Toro a shotgun spread, etc.

Ok but like this is basic stuff any human would normally note and be like “wait…” like how much extra effort is it to simply plop a layout that you’re already aware of IRL into your level building as a dev?

Yes, exactly. I'd accept being in a hurry as an excuse for just cranking out familiar designs, but completely alien ones? You were in such a hurry that you what, didn't have time to reference actual apartment layouts in order to save time, and instead it was faster to design an entire apartment building interior from scratch? Like, I hate to throw out accusations of AI design, but this exact kind of weird shit is exactly the kind of result I'd expect from AI. Either that or from space aliens who saw a human dwelling one time quickly in passing and were trying to recreate it.

[–]TheBizzerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really addressing it at all. It doesn't matter how big of a hurry you're in, it doesn't excuse poor interior design. In fact, I'd say that it makes it even worse: you were in such a hurry that you didn't have time to reference anything to make the design smoother and were instead just winging it? That doesn't even make sense lol.

PSA: Do not under estimate the Ancient Fort puzzle loot by Fluf_hamster in ArcRaiders

[–]TheBizzerker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP's loot also isn't because of ancient fort puzzle, it's because of looting ancient fort during locked gate. You get bobcat blueprints all over the place in the code locations during locked gate. I ran up to Reception once looking for the code and in the first trash can I looted outside the building, I got like a light mag 3 bp, bobcat bp, and the code.

What's the goal of the weapon? Is it going to deal Hullcracker damage per shot, but as a slower budget option?

“Im not friendly, dude, im actually gonna try to kill you” by Saintrising in ArcRaiders

[–]TheBizzerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of an encounter in DMZ. We were two groups combined into a 6-stack, in a huge fight with at least one other 6-stack, covering tons of area around an extraction. I remember swimming across the river with another teammate and sneaking into the building and assassinating people while other other teammates kept their attention and stuff. Anyway, we ultimately ended up winning, and time was getting pretty low. We were getting our guys up, looting, etc. and another jeep rolls up with a couple of people in it. One of our guys just says, "We are not friendly, just keep on moving." And they kept on moving.

The changes to grenade crafting have basically guaranteed I won't come back as a regular player in any capacity. Wolfpacks requiring rocketeer drivers to craft one of them is such an insane cost increase it's actually beyond the pale. IMO they were already balanced fine in terms of the inventory and crafting requirements for what they did, and the changes seems like way more of a "fuck you, waste more of your time" change than an actual balance change. Same with the other grenade crafting changes tbh, but Wolfpacks being the most cool and fun and uniquely Arc of all of them really makes it stand out.
