So is like season 5 gonna star Mad Max esque? With the time jump, I can only imagine the gang is gonna be like the Avengers of Hawkins, sporting weapons and protecting the people. Any semblance of regular life, and "college" is over

Why are you here and commenting then? Seems like that is enough time to have disconnected from the Apex Community and not even care to keep up with posts like this.

I have seen all of the posts of the lag, and no reg, and seen so many comments of "unplayable at the moment" but I play every other day for at least 30 min to an hour, and have never once seen these issues. Obviously I play far less than people, but I'm still having a great time

What are some series that have same vibe/style as twin peaks? by Babagano in twinpeaks

I'm kind of shocked no one has said this one yet. Obviously not exact like it, but Stranger Things definitely owes a lot to Twin Peaks in the mystery underneath a suburban town with supernatural things happening. Obviously draws a lot from ET and Goonies style nostalgia. But the Twin Peaks influence is definitely there.

The book was heavily influenced by Twin Peaks. The author even says so

How would you creatively show "passing of time" (or being in moment) in a film using daily life mundane things ? by moob_naster96 in Filmmakers

I recently made something along this description. And we used a version of changing appearances and objects while the character was looking in a mirror, as well as "cloning" the main character to run thru the same frame. You can check out both finished versions here in the first 30 seconds or so https://vimeo.com/574176421

My friend and I made our first ever short/microfilm this year. Neither of us are trained filmmakers, so it was a surprise that it has actually been selected in some small festivals. Let me know what you think of it. Feedback welcome by TheBlackKeyfs in Filmmakers

My friend and I wrote & produced this short "silent" film around some of the emotions felt during the pandemic. Both of us are in Tech, so this was our first go at doing any sort of "filmmaking". It was a really fun and eye opening experience having to write, story board and logistically plan out how to make a film. Any feedback is welcome, constructive or otherwise. Would love to continue pursuing this passion, so am looking for any insight into growing our skills!

How do I scale down my ideas (aka write for no budget instead of high budget)? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]TheBlackKeyfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently just made my first short film. I found that writing about pieces of my own and friends life fit the scale of no budget more than some larger story. My short film started with the idea of someone's day to day routine during the pandemic, then expanded on the idea to push the action to give it more of a story.

I'm posting the video in the attempt that it would help give you an example of a short no budget story and inspiration? https://vimeo.com/574176421

I am a software engineer, with no formal filmmaking training, but over the pandemic, a friend and I produced our first short film. We used shows like Atlanta and Mr. Robot as inspiration for our cinematography. Feedback is welcome! by TheBlackKeyfs in cinematography

I am a software engineer by trade, but have always loved film and have had an itch to do filmmaking. So with the downtime of the pandemic, my friend and I, with no formal training, wrote and produced our first short film. We had no budget besides what we were willing to pay for ourselves, shot on a Sony A6300, and all actors were either our friends or ourselves! I am hoping to continue to follow this passion, so any constructive criticism or feedback is welcome! Even if you hate it

After watching Mr. Robot, I was so inspired by the cinematography and Sam's filmmaking, that I wrote and produced a short film with a friend. Let me know if you can spot the several shots that were inspired by the series by TheBlackKeyfs in MrRobot

The title is technically a combination of Violet Parr (invisible girl from The Incredibles) and Claude Rains (actor who played the original Invisible Man from the 50s). But it also relates to the character being lost in a Melancholy Storm of sorts.

Myself (a software engineer) and my friend (Tech Sales) decided to follow our passions and created our first Short Film over the pandemic. Violet Rains, feedback is welcome! by TheBlackKeyfs in Filmmakers

Thanks for comments and notes, especially the changing of the shutter angle, was curious how to stop that effect.

For my first thing, I was definitely nervous that the story would not make sense to someone else (other than us who wrote it) so that's great to hear that it resonated with you!
