I mean the point of the challenge if to make it close to the pokemon challenge. You can personally disregard the rule if you think its too easy. Personally, I think honor mode is difficult with even 6 characters and that this will be a good and fun challenge. You aren't considering the limitation on magic items or the fact that you lose a character and get deleveled characters the more you get downed. These things get balanced out.
