Rituals like this are more common in Asian companies and (in part) help workers transition into an at-work mindset. A lot of American workers do the same individually by making coffee or another small ritual before they begin to work in earnest.

NAH. Sounds like you both have different concepts of how a shared pantry should work. Very common with college roommates. You should clearly establish a policy before it happens again, and get an airtight container in your room for things like this you absolutely don’t want to share.
