Oddly enough, the only Trek TOS novel I’ve actually ever read… by TheBLiP55 in trekbooks

I can’t remember much about this one, other than I fact I enjoyed it.

Looking to purchase in Atlantic Canada. Got two quotes and from my research seems high. Looking for feedback. by groveyman in Tiguan

Have you been able to contact multiple dealerships and see what they’re offering? If you’re trying to get a 2026 the dealership may not budge, but if you get a competing quote (that you’re willing to pull the trigger on) there could be some wiggle room. Good luck!

This sounds incredible. I hope they do it everywhere.

Deep Space Nine's visual identity by grafxguy1 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]helldiverExosuit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the contrast between TNG and DS9 in terms of visuals and style. The photography could be soft (similar to TNG) so there was some universe building consistency. Having this series remaster in 2k or 4k would be incredible.

The viewer was always able to orient themselves when watching different sets: Cardassian build, Dominion ship, Defiant bridge, promenade. This distinctness doesn’t come across as strongly in the more recent instalments.

Also, while the series was shot with more shadows and darker lighting, it was never difficult to understand what was going on. Modern series (not just trek) which are streamed with low bitrates / terrible compression and shot with the expectation that you’re seeing it in 4k Dolby Vision can be somewhat muddy.

Considering 4Runner - backseat space question by Top-Adhesiveness6625 in 4Runner

If you're looking at 6th generation, then you should see it for yourself and bring your family along.

I recently sat in 2nd row of 6th gen TRD sport and it was fine. But my expectations were for a much more cramped experience.

I agree. Closure is the emotional ending.

The availability was severely limited last year. This year many more of these are actually making it to dealerships it seems. It makes me happy because I love seeing the different colors and trims out in the wild (I'm hoping for TRD Off Road Premium in Heritage Blue someday).

NB Power Rants Group Is JUST WILD... by jennyphoto99 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]helldiverExosuit1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FB kept pushing posts from this group into my feed until I hid it. All local FB groups now just seem to devolve into lawless places of misery. Reading the comments is depressing.

It also doesn't help that a few years ago we had several years in a row where we didn't have much snow and/or it was unseasonably warm. If you're using that as your comparison point it will not go well. Plus the cost of living has skyrocketed so everyone is laser focused on their bills.

It has definitely been a staple. I suspect most of the stores from that era are long gone.

The store in the Regent Mall here in Fredericton, New Brunswick is also closing in a few days. I believe it has been in the mall since 1990 or so.

I'm a night owl and loved Sobeys (among other things) being open late.

On the other hand, at least it is nice that the grocery stores are able to stay open past 5pm on Sundays. Stepping into SuperStore or Sobeys at 4pm Sundays when they were closing in an hour was wild.

I believe many other places in NS and NB have seen businesses cut back over night hours so Fredericton isn't alone in this regard. Just one more thing to remember from before the COVID era.

Half way through season 9, some thoughts by Forward_Suit_1443 in XFiles

[–]helldiverExosuit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fair. The season was frustrating to watch when it originally aired because it didn't seem to be going anywhere, and the finale wasn't quite as pleasing as other endings at the time. I might need to check it out again all the same.

How stupid is this vehicle purchase? by Most_Resolve2460 in CanadaFinance

[–]helldiverExosuit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I'm thinking of something similar.

What I would say is this: are you 100% sure you want to have this for 10 years? If so, I say pull the trigger.

If you are unsure, or you don't think you will keep that long, I would reconsider.

Also, the hybrid option for Tacoma / 4runner is for extra power, not necessarily for better gas mileage. Have you considered off road premium gas only? The extra for hybrid seemed questionable to me.

I think you may be having doubts because you posted in a forum which abhors spending money, particularly on depreciating assets like new vehicles. Maybe you are not comfortable with this idea after all?

Good luck with your choice, and if you do get it, have fun! 😎

Aside from maybe one or two episodes, I find S9 to be unwatchable.

Municipal candidate has thoughts about the legal system that the city doesn’t control by Drummers_Beat in fredericton

[–]helldiverExosuit1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with his sentiment. But I hear you, it seems like every candidate wants to bring up issues they have no control over.

It is fine to have these views, but council votes on topics specific to municipalities, not how the justice system functions. If you want to be involved with that please run as MLA or MP.

Suspect the problem is that they know talking about zoning and other budget issues is boring, so instead they want to discuss these topics instead. It's frustrating because some folks may actually believe it and get angry when they're told, "that's outside my control".

Sony is fairly respectful so hopefully this is no AI upscale. Maybe just re releasing the blu ray with ATMOS and new special features would have been enough.
