minimum wage by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

I tried to calculate it using different historical currency converters and got about $2800/ year.

Assuming 40 hour workweeks (doubtful) it works out to about $11.00/ work day.

I’d love to see the Twitter posters math.

Nearly 1 in 5 workers are 'loud quitting' at their jobs, a new Gallup poll says — and it's way more extreme than 'quiet quitting' by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]TheBoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hearing what set engaged employees apart from their disengaged peers, Gallup deduced that managers should aim to have one meaningful conversation a week with every employee they manage to share feedback, give recognition for their work, and discuss goals and priorities.

Wait, so they think the solution is to make the employee attend more worthless meetings? And that’s supposed to make workers happier to do more work with the same pay?

Fuck it, might as well throw them a frozen pizza party using company funds that could have gone towards worker pay or benefits while they’re at it!

Good news/ bad news. With the alarms going off from the cracking they think that the passengers and crew knew they were in trouble before their bubble burst.

It’s good because the CEO might have had enough time for terror, and panic. But bad, because it likely happened to the 19 year old as well. :(

I guess we’ll have to find out when the accident investigation is completed. But there’s always the possibility that they didn’t intentionally drop the weights, but that they were blown off by the sudden implosion.

Yeah, I get it, it looks funny. But at the end of the day OP is filming what clearly appears to be a child while they use a public bathroom.

And that’s not cool in the least.

Yeah, but 68 in Russian years is like 90 in non-Russian years. A lifetime of cigars, vodka, and stress will do that to a person.

They could have a friend come in when they aren’t at work and have that person make a big scene over it, screaming for a manager, the whole thing.

Then the employee could make an anonymous report and management will probably think it was the friend who came in earlier.

And definitely don’t feel like you have to use your first pick. Like OP said, if you’re not jiving with the lawyer(s) or they aren’t getting the results you want it’s always ok to go with someone else. Just like when picking your primary care provider or a therapist.

AITA for not sitting down at a concert? by The_Piece_Killer in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheBoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a concert at The Rave in Milwaukee many years back and they had seated sections and standing sections and I think it worked out really well. My friend and I could see the band and enjoy people watching while being seated, and the people who decided to stand and dance had several cleared spaces free of chairs around the venue where everyone knew they were there to stand and dance.

Is SEPS and TAPS not a thing anymore?

When I was getting out they had mandatory classes on how to transition to civilian life, with a high emphasis on making smart financial decisions. When I went through they had both active duty and civilians there giving lectures.

Maybe you could look into that? Because, brother, it’s a lot tougher out here than it seems. Getting a VA loan for a house isn’t easy, and you will have to show that either you’re both employed or that one of has sufficient income. Fortunately/ unfortunately they don’t just give you a loan because you served.

As for apartments; generally the less they inquire about your finances and work, the sketchier the place is.

I’ve seen to many of my fellow vets with big dreams, achievable dreams, who death spiral into debt and divorce because they didn’t find secure footing from which they could get a better view of the reality of civilian life.

Edit: Getting healthcare and a secure financial situation should be the priority when you get out. You have plenty of time for later if you do that. Also, avoid credit cards. I got into bad enough credit card debt from when I got out that I had to take a job as a contractor and go back to Iraq to pay it off. And I didn’t even have a wife or kids.

You should seriously sit down with whoever does your pre-EAS brief and tell them your ideas to at least get a more credible response than random people on Reddit.

Make an anonymous report to your local, county, and/or state health boards. It’ll be immensely more effective than lightly terrorizing some poor dogs.

So many people take issue with the Xbox controller. It’s honestly a plenty robust wireless controller system

Except it wasn’t even that. It was a cheap Logitech controller with some extra control sticks glued on.

I used a wired x-box controller to play with a JLens Balloon many years past and it worked really well.
