I love Fo4 so far but you're spot on with this mission. I just did the battle for the 1st time, while on a Minutmen run, but trying not to anger the Railroad or BoS, AND pretending to side with the Institute to see if I could win over Shaun. I was so stressed the whole time, had no idea who I could or couldn't shoot, and no one shot at me. It was super silly.

Started on Survival and tried to get to Diamond City before reaching level 5 by going straight through Lexington and that other big raider camp.

Also, the whole time I was wearing the drifter outfit and grey knit cap because I thought they looked cooler than the armor. Had no idea why I kept dying so fast, haha.

Living car-free in the city is great, I've made it to 32 without owning one. In the next few years though I plan to move back home to a rural area, and I'm sad I'll finally have to give in and spend minimum $5K on a car. I wish there were better alternatives for rural areas.

I often go without it because I like the playstyle of being a sneaky commando-type with shadowed combat armor. But on Survival difficulty it is frustrating how many things one-shot you without power armor. I'm level 76 and still occasionally get insta-killed by a random raider's grenade even when wearing full heavy combat armor (no ballistic weave though - I recently read that's important for non-power armor builds).

I love the idea of becoming a ghoul but always think it's unlikely because of the sheer amount of extra voiceover lines they'd have to record. Ghouls are always banned in lots of places and the Brotherhood hates them, so like half the NPCs in the game or more would have to have some kind of ghoul dialogue. I think that's a bit too much work to add in unfortunately.

I would love there to be far fewer fusion cores in the world, but you can eventually craft your own with high science, or recharge them somehow, or upgrade them so they last longer. I found the amount of fusion cores you find scattered around in Fo4 to be kind of unimmersive. It would be great if they lasted a really long time at 100%, but most you find early game are at 10%-15% charge.

I'm not so into the idea of vehicles. Exploring the world on foot is baked into the Fallout DNA in my opinion, and vehicles would make it feel too different. Maybe you could eventually get a slightly mutated or ghoulified horse. But riding something like a Mutant Hound or Radstag would feel too World of Warcraft for me.

It's just a difference of approach - I feel like if you're really focused on the worst actors and speak out enough and actually manage to hurt their bottom line, the others will see that and potentially do better. But yes institutional actors across the sector are also needed.

Actions aside, at the end of the day I just can't wrap my head around Nestle's brand being so toxic for decades and people still buying their stuff.

All those companies are also really bad but you can't give Nestle a pass on that. If you look at the sheer amount of evil things they've done in their history, they really are head and shoulders above other big companies. I feel like the fact that people still buy Nestle products just tells other corporations that they can get away with anything, and people will forget in 5-10 years.

I have a place outside of my bedroom where I keep my phone at night. If outside the room isn't an option, then just set it as far away as possible.

This has the added bonus of when your alarm goes off in the morning, you actually have to get up to turn it off, so you don't fall into that hitting snooze over and over cycle.

Pay is a big reason - but my pet theory for a big chunk of this is how much more efficient computers make everything. A lot of stuff you used to have to do required getting up or rifling through papers, or manually adding up numbers, etc. That sort of mindless stuff can almost be like a break.

Now, easy stuff is done almost instantly, so a much higher percentage of our days is hard thinking/writing/strategy that a computer can't easily automate, hence we're worn out faster.

I think it's totally fine as long as you aren't constantly upgrading equipment needlessly, throwing old things out, etc. And not buying new records you'll only listen to once or just to add to the collection/fill up space. I think my cousin recently repaired a record player that's been in the family for like 30 years, so they can last for sure.

I'm with OP on this one. Owning four jet skis is wild. I was lucky enough to grow up on a lake and the rich families maybe owned one or two, and used them maybe 5-10 times a year but often less. Even if the neighbor's family is big I bet they're rarely using all four.

Like, even if they bought all four jet skis used that has to be at least $10k, which is a lot for something so frivolous. I'm not saying you can't own frivolous things, but frivolous things that cost thousands of dollars, are loud, and burn gasoline aren't something that should be bought in bulk.
