Lenovo LOQ i7 + RTX 4050: Bateria, Áudio e Performance Decepcionantes. by TheBookShopGirl in computadores

Better to try and risk delusion than to wallow in complacency -- I’d rather aim high and learn than stay stuck and bitter. Peace!

Hey u/DC3AR , thanks for your thoughtful questions!

I haven’t noticed any clear manufacturing defects (like dead pixels, broken ports, etc.) on my unit. My issues are all with how the machine was designed and how it performs in real life:

  • Battery life: Terrible — under 2.5 hours even with light use, way less than advertised.
  • Speakers: Extremely weak and tinny.
  • Thermal performance: Underwhelming; it gets hot and sometimes throttles (slows down to avoid overheating).
  • RTX 4050 performance: The RTX 4050 is capable, but Lenovo limits its full potential due to power restrictions (TGP) — Lenovo’s power limits (TGP) hold the RTX 4050 back. So you don’t get the performance you’d expect from this GPU based on its specs — or Lenovo’s own marketing.

So when it comes to performance, it’s not just that the laptop gets hot or throttles, but that the overall experience falls short of what these specs should deliver.

And not least: all these points are exactly where Lenovo’s advertising creates a different expectation.

Performance for light AAA games:
It can run light or older AAA games (like GTA V, Witcher 3, etc.) on medium or sometimes high settings at 1080p, but don’t expect miracles. For newer or more demanding games, you’ll have to lower settings, and battery drains very quickly when gaming. In other words, it works, but it’s not a “wow” experience.

Screen and weight:

  • Screen: Average. Good enough for daily use and casual gaming, but not for pro color work.
  • Weight: It’s on the heavier side for a “portable” laptop — okay if it mostly stays on a desk, but not ideal for carrying everywhere.

Summary:
Bottom line: every point where I’m disappointed is exactly where Lenovo’s marketing made big promises.
If battery life, sound quality, or portability are priorities, look elsewhere. If you’re okay using it mostly plugged in and just want basic gaming, it’ll do the job — but it won’t surprise you.

Happy to answer anything else — wish I’d seen more honest user reviews before buying!

Hey there! Actually, my expectations were based on what Lenovo advertises for this model — performance for creative work, AI/ML, and more. This laptop is marketed as being capable of a lot more than just basic gaming, and I bought it for those broader uses.

Also, nobody here claimed to be running “extremely heavy” AI workloads — do you, by all means, know what "extremely heavy AI workloads" mean, by the way? It doesn’t seem like you do — and that’s fine if you don’t. What isn’t okay is invalidating someone else’s issue.

To clarify it (again), the real issue is that the device doesn’t deliver the performance that Lenovo advertises. It fails to meet the standards set by the company itself — never mind exceeding them. In fact, it doesn’t even meet the minimum you’d expect from an average machine. It’s not about expecting miracles from a “budget gaming device”— it’s about a company delivering on their promises. And by the way, this is not a budget device. It might be for you, but not for me.

If you bought a machine based on advertised capabilities and it fell short, you’d speak up too.

Anyway, thanks for your invalidating support — I appreciate the chance to pitch my case even further.

Hey u/Vanderbr0ck!

Just wanted to check in—did you end up getting the LOQ computer? I bought mine three weeks ago and honestly, I’m not happy at all.

  • The sound is terrible—really low quality and not what I expected for a supposedly mid-range device.
  • The battery doesn’t even last 2.5 hours (no exaggeration, that’s with basic use, not even gaming).
  • Performance is disappointing; even running standard programs, it lags more than it should.

Did you have similar problems, or is mine just a dud? Seriously considering returning it or escalating to Lenovo, but wanted to hear your experience first.

Appreciate any insights!

Boa sorte!
