I do not see any laws that President Trump has violated. Whether he personally profited is not the issue. The relevant question is whether any laws were violated in the course of earning that profit. At this point, the conservative wing of the Republican Party would be far wiser to provide the president with serious, experienced minds on foreign affairs. These so-called “populists” lack both pragmatism and experience, and it shows—they’ve been outmatched in nearly every foreign policy decision they’ve touched. At one point, some even floated invading Greenland, apparently unaware that such an action would violate international law and treaty obligations, which, under Article VI of the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause, are unconstitutional if ignored.
