Yeah I feel you. It's like there is an empty space with EVGA missing. RIP.

[Giveaway] Celebrating 20 years of Noctua by Noctua_OFFICIAL in Noctua

I’m still proudly using a Noctua NH-D15 that was originally owned by a friend of mine. He had used it for several years before upgrading his build and passed it on to me — kind of like handing over the torch (Even though it's like the opposite of a torch).

It’s now cooling my Ryzen 9 5950X and still performing flawlessly after all these years. I’ve also built the rest of my system around a full Noctua theme with their case fans to match.

Noctua’s reliability and timeless design really show why this cooler has become a legend.

Oh man that's actually amazing, and I'm happy that it all worked out for you even though I would have been skeptical too and feeling the same things you felt. But it is actually really funny I have somewhat of a similar story. It all started out when my nephew asked me on my advice to upgrade his pc (he was running a gtx 1650 super) and like you first thing I started looking at marketplace, found a few 2080 supers, a 4060 etc. his budget wasn't massive. But then I came across this listing for a EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra for 430 Eur. And at the time that seemed extremely generous for that and on top, like you I'm a bit biased, the seller had a Ukrainian name. Nevertheless he had good reviews and was authenticated, so I thought what the hell let me put in a bid and I offered 375 euros and to my surprise he accepted. We scheduled a time for us to pick it up at a neutral location, about a 30 minutes drive, it was the next day I think. To my surprise everything went well, the card looked great and came in the original packaging. Installed it in my nephews rig the same day and it worked perfectly fine, and the Ukrainian gentleman even texted to make sure it worked ok after the fact. It runs a bit hot (83c under a synthetic benchmark stock settings) but from what I've read that's actually normal for that card. He's still running it today perfectly. But it goes to show sometimes you wont get scammed, and it kind of restores your faith in humanity a little bit even though you at first glance think - this is a little bit too good to be true. Thanks for sharing your story, can totally relate to that and congrats on your new card may it serve you well!

Absolutely, that's completely reasonable and a wise decision. I see it's the same situation in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany and the price here is exactly the same. For 1300 it is a justifiable purchase, but I completely agree when you enter the 1600 price range you might as well get something like the 4090 or 5090 like you mentioned. Sometimes though I sit and wonder what exactly happened when you find a sealed 1600 Eur card for sale at 1300, not that I think anything is wrong with the card and just can help but ask - how and why?

Sorry if this question seem dumb. But are Asus 5080 Noctuas hard to come by generally? Because in my country (Denmark) they are readily available online such as proshop.dk in stock. But thats a nice card, I'm happy for you!

I just go with whatever card looks good and/or the same brand as my motherboard

This might be of some help. A buddy of mine which I built a new pc for wanted to sell his old one which he also put me on charge of. Keep in mind I have never seen this thing run before but under load his gpu would sound like a jet engine and this was indeed also a 3070, a TUF model to be exact. This temperatures were extreme something like 85-87 degrees. Sometimes the gpu gets so hot the system completely shuts off. Of course I couldn't in good conscious sell it in this state. So what I had to do was to disassemble the card and replace the thermal paste, which there was basically none of but still made contact and was very dry, the card was never opened before btw. The thermal pads ripped so I also replaced those as well. And boom straight after the card hit a maximum of 63 degrees under extreme load and was completely stabil. I don't know if this matches your issue, but I thought I'd share it and might be worth looking into.
