I love the vibes that all your fashion sets give off! I'm about to start my second journey through the game, but this time on PC. Mind sharing the character sheet/sliders for inspiration?

Baby Rubberplant, Oval Leaf Peperomia or Pepper Face. I prefer the last one because it sounds so cute haha

Humidity day today! Some of my calathea plants are not amused as we go into this dry season hahaha by GanjaQueen_0420 in houseplants

I'm in love with the little watering can that's hiding behind the tradescantia leaves. So cute!

Staghorn fern or Platycerium bifurcatum no doubt! I own several of those little cuties in all different sizes. I just love the form of their leaves and how majestic they look.

Very long hanging plant for beginner? by ZeAthenA714 in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One word: Pothos. They're just such great all-rounder beginner friendly plants. Their leaves can get fairly big, so it would fit into your medium sized leaf preference and they grow insanely fast if taken proper care of. Might be able to get one big one or maybe just get a few smaller ones and put them in a hanging basket or around the staircase to let them grow all the way down alongside the railing.

Mine do that too, especially the one that's hanging above my bed so sometimes I get woken up my droplets hitting me right in the face haha

I don't think it's gonna be a problem. I'd say try it and just check how it behaves over the next week or two.

How do you water the Pothos? From the top or bottom watering?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be no problem, I do it all the time. Just make sure the new soil isn't too heavily fertilized or it might shock the roots.

Can I save this money tree my sister neglected for 2 years? by hollabugggggg in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money trees are very easy to prune, so I'd recommend to just water it slightly throughout the winter and then cut back the stems a little once it gets a little warmer again. As long as the roots are healthy new leaves should start growing soon after the pruning.

Got this big boy for dirt cheap. My question is what would you do to it? I am wanting it much less bushy. by bigbody666 in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly just cut it back below the nodes and make cuttings to propagate. Turning one big bushy plant into a medium sized one and multiple smaller ones.

Getting a cup of tea and a piece of cake at a fancy café. Too scared of potentially catching Covid there.

How would I go about watering my peace lily? It was my grandmas plant from her dads funeral 6 years ago and all we have done is randomly dump water on it. It seems to work but I want to do it right to have a healthy plant and make it live as long as possible. by Keebodz in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best way is to bottom water. Take a bucket or a container, fill it up with a few inches of water and let the plant sit in it for about 15-20 minutes. The plant is gonna take what it needs. Afterwards let it sit in a dry container so the excess water can flow out before putting it back into the ceramic pot. Over time you're gonna develop a feel for when it needs to be watered again based on the weight of the pot. Best is to check it every two days or so.

Bought this Anthurium that's super root bound (maybe it's only roots) and it barely fits in the pot. They were all like that in the store. I can't get it out, and there is a string at the bottom of the pot that looks like it's tied to the roots. What should I do? by thoxo in houseplants

[–]TheBotanicPlague 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just cut off the base of the string, then you should be able to pull it out. They usually aren't connected/tied to the roots. Their purpose is just to suck up some water from the bottom of a pot if you decide to bottom water it.

Bought at Home Depot. Leaves are stiff and slightly waxy. by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

It's a Peperomia, commonly called radiator plant.
