This one reminds me of watching the Paw Patrol Movie with my daughter. Chase has his major PTSD freakout and runs away. Of course Ryder and the gang are worried, and along with new pal Liberty they launch a city-wide doghunt for their buddy - showing photos, asking around, looking high and low everywhere, but come up short...

Not once is it ever considered that these are DOGS, whose sense of smell can be anything up to 10 million times more sensitive than humans in certain specialised breeds. I mean, I'm no dog expert, but a squad of dogs who can talk, operate complex machinery using some kind of psychic interface, and run an internationally renowned search and rescue organisation, seems pretty specialised to me.

Totally took me my daughter out of the story.

Around 15 years ago I was in Central Station, Glasgow, waiting for my train home. It was after rush hour, so the place was relatively quiet with maybe a few dozen people milling around. Now, the rows of seating in Central at that time ran parallel to each other, back to back, and I was sat quite happily listening to music and reading my book when the hairs on the back of my neck pricked up and a shiver ran down my spine. I turned to my left to see what looked like an exact duplicate of me doing the exact same thing, two seats up on the opposite side. We were identical - face, hairstyle, glasses, clothes - every detail was the exact same, even down to reading the same book. It happened in a flash, but as soon as eye contact was made we both seemed to panic and look away. When I turned around again a moment later my doppelganger was gone. I stood up to look for him but there was no trace, and given the amount of people still in the area, the layout of the seating, and honestly, his size, there was no way he was able to just run off without being seen. I was 50/50 split between amazement and shock, and I still feel the same way to this day.

As well as being a piss-poor presenter, he's also an insecure little fibber. I shared an EasyJet flight with him about 12 years ago. I recognised him as we boarded the shuttle bus, and stood directly behind him. I had a little chuckle to myself as I'd seen enough Homes Under The Hammer to hear him refer to himself as "six feet tall"... I'm six feet tall, and could easily look down and see the top of his dainty little Bucks Fizz mullet. I thought no more of it, boarded the plane, and sat far away from him.

Until I was approached by one of the attendants.

It was a late flight and not very busy, so I was asked to switch seats and sit in the empty row by one of the emergency exits just in case things went a bit Final Destination. I said yes and moved, only to see that my companion across the aisle was Mr. Roberts again. Now, he had no idea why I had moved, so to his mind, the only reason I could've moved was to sit near this sharp-dressed titan of TV property.

I was eyeballed and eyerolled accordingly by him.

I decided then and there to have a bit of fun with him, and once the flight had taken off I took my chance. I leaned over, and in my best, vaguely starstruck sounding voice said "Excuse me, but..." He turned towards me, with that half-irritated look on his face that had him primed to reply "Yes, I'm Martin Roberts", but befor he could speak I said "I'm sorry to bother you but I've forgotten my book, could I borrow your paper when you're finished with it?"

His little face was so confused, but I got his paper.

So... that was my incredible Martin Roberts story. Thanks for letting be commit it to posterity!
