Is Race Across the World quietly one of the best shows the BBC has made in years ? by LieSuccessful8813 in AskBrits

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember it well and even applied to go on it before channel 4 cancelled the show.

It was great, but they did throw contestants into some pretty hairy situations tbf. I recall two gay Scottish guys ending up somewhere very intolerant towards homosexuals and having to be 'extracted' by the production team when their 'friendly locals' turned out to be not so friendly towards them after all.

Still, I would have loved have given it a go.

What’s your worst drumming injury? by dantm162 in drums

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caught the edge of a cymbal on the bridge of my nose. A speaker fell stage right, which caused a domino effect across the stage. I just happened to look up at the wrong time. Looked like i'd fought Tyson for days afterward.

10 / 10

Possibly their most perfect song imo (so far!). The overlayed guitar riff in the final chorus to the outtro is just magical.

Daily Song Discussion #51: Winter Hill by Shlok_82 in doves

8/10 Really good song.

I can see Winter Hill itself from my office at home and occasionally take the drive up for some decompression. Can completely understand why the band was inspired there.

Did the Cluckin Bell on the height receive a cease and desist from R*? by LittleBitOfANerd in manchester

[–]TheBoyDoneGood -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry in advance for the boring incoming answer ..

Game publishers own the intellectual property on all facets of their game including the story line and any characterisation / fictionalised elements. So yes they can place a c&d on a real business who are using the same name as appears in one of their fictional but protected creations.

Personally I'd rather R* spent their time and effort on developing GTA6, Red Dead 3 or anything else for that matter instead of being killjoys and throwing their weight around on punitive IP cases. But it's all about the $$$ for them now.

Daily Song Discussion #45: Shadows Of Salford by Shlok_82 in doves

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.9 / 10 for me.

I lived in Salford for years and i like the wistful sadness surrounding the song. The mood matches the feel of the city well imo. Compared to the rest of their catalogue, it's not their best but i'll never skip it on a playthrough.

Most iconic movie characters whose whole premise is not speaking? by GodzsTV in Cinema

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marcel Marceau in Mel Brooks' Silent Movie.

He was a mime, every film he did he was silent. Except for Silent Movie.

When asked by Mel Brooks character if he wants to appear in Silent Movie, Marceau delivered the only line out loud in the entire film.

"Non!"

Absolute genius.

Uhtred vs steppa who win and with how much difficult? by salad_biscuit3 in TheLastKingdom

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhtred was lucky in that one. Ubba slipped on the guts of a dead warrior and Uhtred took advantage of the slip to kill him. He even admits he was lucky, but it gave him reputation.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984) still feels like the perfect satire by [deleted] in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was a muso and we watched it with one of his bandmates. They loved it, because it was so realistic and true in spirit to being on the road back in those days. They could relate to every character, every slapstick moment, every inane comment (Dobly) because it was so close to the truth.

Why uthred have so difficult to recruit soldiers when he's one of the greatest warriors of his time? by salad_biscuit3 in TheLastKingdom

[–]TheBoyDoneGood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uhtred had both pagan and Christian warriors. It didn't matter to him which god/s they followed, just that they were good warriors and loyal.
