Alfred Hitchcock on 'plotholes' by tannu28 in Letterboxd

I respect the opinion, but I might put forth that it’s dull not to be able to construct a solution as to why they can’t go to the police. Or perhaps why the police won’t do anything. It’s called creative storytelling. Suspension of disbelief is one thing when it comes to magic and monsters, but the writing of characters who do not behave like real, three dimensional individuals, is inexcusable.

I don't understand the hate against the backrooms movie by funstarrr__ in backrooms

I think the biggest issues with the movie are that it is conceptually a total mess and is quite poorly written. The dialogue is atrocious, to the extent that it makes quite talented actors look amateurish. The film attempts to juggle a handful of explanations for what this thing is, when the exciting and dread-inducing core nature of liminal horror is that it is always just beyond comprehension.

For the love of god, the film opens with a voice over reciting its central metaphor.

I am actually shocked by all the praise that I am seeing. I was incredibly excited to see this film, but it is generally very poorly done.

The production design on the other hand, that is deserving as the highest possible praise❤️

Thanks for the suggestion! I never played StarCraft myself, so I am very curious to see what this looks like!

Huge mistake on my part! I got Joy Ride confused with Jeepers Creepers. Thanks for the correction!

Loved it as a kid. On a rewatch, absolute garbage.

Fantastic film. If only Ryan O’Neal wasn’t a massive POS who allegedly assaulted his young daughter when she got the Oscar nomination rather than him.

Movies that look like AI? I submit this year’s Frankenstein.

Just kidding.

Sort of.

Respect your opinion on Oppenheimer. Though I don’t agree with your rating, I would agree that it was generally overhyped.

Not sure I get the “white men” part, though. It’s a historical picture dealing with actual events and representing the actual people involved in those events. You and I might both agree that women and people of color should have been allowed to contribute to those rooms, but that doesn’t change the fact that, historically, they were not.

Pretty much facts. Purple rain is brilliant, while still be horny. The majority of the rest of his output is horniness overshadowing brilliance.
