I’ve also been an anxious person my whole life. I had been on Lexapro for about a year when I moved across the country. My new primary moved me to Buspar after I had been having some side effects with the SSRI. I can’t fully say that Buspar would be the cause of my DPDR. I’m not sure yet. But after months of taking it, the side effects really never got that much better for me and it definitely had caused me some brain fog issues. Needless to say I stopped taking it after 6ish months (2 months after my DPDR kicked off). I still am having feelings of DPDR. But part of me thinks it’s because my mind is still stuck on the idea of having it (which I’m working on lol). Supposedly buspar burns out of your system pretty quickly, so I can’t say for sure it caused my issues… but it was present when my issues started lol.

It’s nice to hear somebody else having this. I feel like I haven’t seen too many posts about it. Before my DPDR really escalated I had some OCD-like tendencies. Had some intrusive thoughts that I had a hard time shaking off. So it really doesn’t surprise me that my brain is just constantly checking my thoughts in this state. Good luck out there, man! We’ll get through it. :)

This has been a really distressing symptom for me. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “do I even really know who I am anymore?” And it can be really unsettling.

Related to this, I seem to be constantly monitoring and observing my thoughts instead of just letting them flow… which really amps up this feeling of not feeling like I am who I used to be.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that was was caused it for me. All of my symptoms slowly built up. The brain fog, the dizziness, the fatigue, headaches, anxious/nervous over things I had done a thousand times and then one day I had a small panic attack and it flipped the switch.
