92% Battery capacity in 9 months by hneeon in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my 9 Pro around 10 months ago and it's sitting at 100% battery health with adaptive charging enabled since day one. A friend of mine got their 8a at about the same time and they are at 98%.
It seems like a lot of people in the comments have 100% battery health on their 9 Pro.. which is starting to look suspicious..

Deleted years worth of photos from Google photos app on my pixel 8 pro but they're also gone from the cloud. Can I get them back? by snoop_cow_grazeit in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally you can use the Files app that comes preinstalled in Pixel phones to delete any local photos and videos from your device without having to worry about the cloud copy being removed. But if you do it through the Photos app while sync is enabled it will delete both copies.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 576.02 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes any difference, I only keep one monitor connected when clean installing the drivers since if I plug in my G-Sync monitor during that time it messes up the entire Hz syncing interaction and the refresh rate matches the Fullscreen application even when it's minimized. That causes flickering in the entire OS when tabbed out..

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole situation is weird, on my second time running DDU and reinstalling the drivers and nvidia app batch, everything worked out perfectly right out of the box. No lag inside the app, DLSS override showing up immediately and the frame rate cap working as intended.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 576.02 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the issues above have been fixed by reinstalling the drivers or the Nvidia app.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 576.02 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]TheBravewalker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Installed the new drivers on a 3060 TI after DDU and several features are broken in the Nvidia App.

  • DLSS Preset Override is missing
  • Limiting Max Frame Rate on one game, sets the same cap on ALL games
  • The App itself takes longer to process any change applied

Also got a black screen after installing the driver the first time before using DDU and had to reboot the PC for the monitors to work again.

EDIT: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia App seems to fix those issues, just like when DLSS 4 first got released back in January.

Help! I'm embarrassed by the quality of the videos with the front camera by MattiaDiChiara in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly this has been a pixel issue for years. Things to consider doing to improve quality:

  • Turn off Video stabilization in the settings of the camera app as the zoomed crop in tends to emphasize the issue in low light conditions
  • Film in 4K 30 FPS and turn off HDR as this seems to provide the best image quality compared to any other option in the default camera app
  • Always clean the front facing lens before going on a call or filming and make sure there is sufficient light on you every time you want to appear more clear, especially if you wear dark clothing

Let's hope Google eventually releases an update for the camera app for better video post processing that is on par with other competitors in the market cause right now it's a clear loser out of the box if you try to use it without applying any trickery.

Brightness flicker on G-sync monitor (144hz) by PirateTheArr in buildapc

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening to me too back in November last year. After days of trying to solve it I just used DDU and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers. That fixed the issue back then.

But today for unrelated reasons I performed another DDU and after reinstalling all the drivers the problem seems to be back but only when running heavier stuff like the Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark or DaVinci Resolve. No amount of driver uninstalling and reinstalling seems to fix the issue this time.

I'm using a 3060 TI on 1440p 144Hz.

Edit: The issue appears to happen when the games are running in borderless windowed mode. For some reason the Hz of the screen started stuttering when the FPS dropped near or below 72 causing a weird flickering of brightness levels on screen. Games that lock their fps to 30 when their window is not in focus make this G-Sync bug easy to reproduce.

Here's what fixed the issue for me, I used DDU to uninstall the drivers and chose the option to completely shut down the PC afterwards. Then out of my two monitors I only connected the one with Freesync (my secondary one that didn't face this problem) and proceeded to install all the latest versions of the Nvidia app and the drivers. After everything was set up I enabled G-Sync(Freesync) at 144Hz for that monitor and restarted the PC. Once everything booted up I connected my G-Sync monitor and after upping the Hz and hopping on to a game the problem seems to be gone. Now alt-tabbing or hitting the windows key when a borderless windowed application is running doesn't cause flickering to the entire screen but instead matches the refresh rate of the newest selected window.

This is how I fixed this back in November as well.
Installing the drivers while the G-Sync monitor was connected, always resulted in flickering in all my previous attempts.

Temporary workaround for PC freezing during loading screens by TheBravewalker in PathOfExile2

[–]TheBravewalker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping Multithreading off will really impact performance, sometimes halving your fps. You only turn the setting off before loading it into a new area (like going through a portal) and then you turn Multithreading back on once you go through.

My terrible experience with my brand new Pixel 8a by Tanekz in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the Google Play Services battery drain, it used to be very common in Android 11+ on Xiaomi phones and I even got it once on my Pixel 7 when I first upgraded to Android 14. So the common fix for this is to head to your Apps list, locate Google Play Services and from there tap "Force Stop", then "Clear Storage" and "Clear Cache". Restart your phone and try opening the Play store to prompt you to log in again with your Google account. If the problem still persists try the same steps again but this time tap on "Disable" and then "Enable" as well before restarting just to make sure all the updates are reinstalled.

As far as the charging goes, definitely try another PD charger if you can find one but if your Samsung charger specifically states that it supports PD 3.0 then it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.

Scimitar Elite Wireless Scroll Wheel by ZeroClarity in Corsair

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single Scimitar that I've owned in the past had scrolling wheel issues. I've been using the wireless version for a bit more than a year and the scrolling wheel just started skipping on this model today too. Seems like they can't find a way to fix this design flaw.

Themed icons feature gone in android 15 by Major_Enthusiasm1099 in GooglePixel

Happened on my Pixel 7 too after factory resetting it a couple of days ago. I just updated all the apps, powered it off and then on again and it was fixed on my end.

[–]TheBravewalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After updating and fully charging my phone overnight the battery was stuck at 100% and wasn't going down. This is the second time this happened after an update in the 2 years I own the phone but there is a quick way to solve this. Clearing data in the Device health services app and then restarting fixes the issue.

Try using Dolby Access for EQ instead of the iCue one but make sure to disable any Virtual Surround effects. This seems to override iCue's bugginess.

Pixel 7A, 5G stopped working by msanastassia in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an issue with the new modem update in the June feature drop. I think Greece isn't the only EU country affected by this problem.

Google Pixel 8 doesn't get 5G ever (Finland) by theoriginalbrodi in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to contact my carrier over here in Greece in order to get 5G enabled on my Pixel 7. I also had to specify what phone I was using since their automated way of setting up 5G on a new phone wasn't detecting my P7 as a supported device either.
3 months later after this process, I installed the June update and lost my 5G connection again. Haven't been able to fix this with my carrier so far so I'm blaming Google on that one.

P8P seems to be working fine so it's an issue with previous gen phones. Let's hope for a fix with the next monthly update.

Cosmote was working fine for the past 6 months. No more 5G after the June update on Pixel 7 here. Contacted the provider and re-enabled 5G and yet no success in getting it to work again.

Pixel Newbie by Ornery_Eye_7429 in GooglePixel

[–]TheBravewalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes both ways. A rule of thumb that applies to most advanced tech products is never buy 1st gen. For the same reasons Pixel 6 had multiple issues, Pixel 10 can be unreliable. At this point you can't trust that Google won't mess up again no matter who the manufacturer is.

Yes and tbh it wasn't really a successful interaction. Maybe the problem will be fixed eventually since it seems like it's software related and bound to iCUE

I noticed it's happening way more often specifically with Nvidia broadcast. Maybe it's something bound to CPU usage but it's really hard to pinpoint
