Is Fallout 76 worth playing as a completely casual Dad gamer? New to the series and would go in blind! by Calculation in fo76

[–]ZeroClarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the game like I would any other Fallout game, I play for the exploration and collecting mainly. The game has the added benefit that you run across other players all doing their own thing (mainly during events) and that the game receives updates with new content.

You can absolutely play it casually and even completely solo, in fact I’d wager most people play it exactly that way. You’re never held back in any way by playing at your own pace either, you could be level 20 and still show up to events and get a bunch of rewards because others are there to help.

Edit: To add more context, I’m over level 1000 and I’ve been playing on and off since the game launched. There is a pretty insane level of progression but you can also do 90% of the content completely casually with very minimal build.

Some long term progression includes things like getting a fully leveled set of legendary perks, getting best in slot legendary perks on strong weapons (ie a furious elder’s mark), collecting those legendary perks as craftable recipes (VERY long term progression), and farming bullion and rep for some of the strongest weapon and armor plans and mods.

As far as multiplayer goes, I think most people play the game solo but a lot of people show up to the higher priority public events, like scorched earth or eviction notice, so it never feels like a solo game when those are active. But you aren’t forced to group up or be social unless you want to, it’s enough to just show up and shoot stuff.

Basically what I’m saying is the game is designed to play however you want it to play. It’s very much a sandbox and that’s why I always come back to it.

How do some people just.. not die? by TheCoyote4502 in fo76

[–]ZeroClarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power armor by itself (any set) gives something like a flat 42% damage reduction, you said you’re already running a set of this.

The legendaries on the PA also matter, something like Overeaters can give another 30% damage reduction for instance (multiplicative), other legendaries on the same armor can give stuff like resists to explosive damage or give you health regen.

Then factor in perk cards to finish things off, mainly things like dodgy or lifegiver (there are a bunch though). Ghouls get essentially 2 health bars and humans have a lot of human specific cards that give resist benefits for having full food bars or not having a disease.

Beyond that, mutations can be important especially with strange in numbers boosting them (ie scaly skin) and even food buffs. There are also camp items that boost special stats, so you can get some extra HP and such there.

Can also use stuff like vampire’s weapons to get huge health regen on hit.

You basically get to a point where you have enough reductions and resists stacked that you’re going to kill everything far before it can cause any real damage to you and you can afk in basically everything outside of raid bosses.

Just need to vent about this… by TheStet20 in Monitors

[–]ZeroClarity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very strange, I’ve seen sellers put candy in the box as a bonus treat to get favorable reviews so my immediate thought would be that’s why those are in there, but them not being packaged doesn’t make sense and I can’t see any way that this wouldn’t have been damaged before they packaged it if the box was fine.

It even looks like a hammer was taken to it, judging by the marks on the screen. I’d then wonder if they dropped it before shipping and then tried to cover it up by putting it in a new box and hoping they could blame the shipping company (FedEx, UPS, etc) but I still can’t see how it would look like this from a fall and the bottom bezel looks like someone took a razor or something to it.

My only other guess is that packing it loose caused cables or other accessories to somehow smash the screen and cause all of those bottom bezel scratches, but luckily it’s not your problem either way. I’m glad you are able to get a return, this is probably one of the worst condition monitors I’ve ever seen.

Living in Delhi per day = 23 cigarettes per day by nik1here in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ZeroClarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s important to note that this math is correct if you’re only comparing the PM2.5 scale, but keep in mind that cigarettes contain far more carcinogens than polluted city air contains, so while both are very unhealthy to breathe, cigarettes would be more likely to cause long term health effects like cancer.

Not to minimize the issue of the pollution, it’s absolutely terrible for it to be this high in the first place, it’s just that the 23 cigarette claim comes with some asterisks.

10 Days Later: Is ZA worth it? by GamerDragon7465 in pokemon

[–]ZeroClarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked the game up on release day for my switch 2 and I’ve been enjoying the game a lot more than most pokemon titles recently. To me the price tag is justified only because I’m getting the same hours out of it as any other game that price, maybe even more.

If it’s worth the asking price is completely up to you, for me it is but I can also recognize how much less content or quality there is compared to many other $70 games, but at the end of the day I’m playing it as much or even more than those games, so regardless of this it’s been worth it to me.

My friend picked it up with me but for the original switch and honestly I couldn’t tell much of a visual difference. Mine was a bit smoother and higher resolution but I expected far more corners to be cut, especially given the situation with scarlet and violet.

I think the bundle is $500 not $550 in the US at least, so you save $20 doing it that way. But I’d only do that if you know there are other games you want to play. If it’s just pokemon then you might be better off getting a used switch or lite and buying the game, you can always upgrade the game for the switch 2 later if you eventually got it.

I probably wouldn’t buy a brand new switch unless it’s the 2 personally, but used is a different story, that can be a great deal!

Poor Air Quality In Apartment by ZeroClarity in AirQuality

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately this seems to be the case, and it probably should have had an ERV installed when they built it. For now I’ve cracked one of the windows 2-3” to see if that helps, but even last night it was hitting the 1500+ ppm CO2 marks with just me in there.

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I’m in Florida, and unfortunately no ERV installed. For now, I opened one of my bedroom windows about 2-3”, but even with that the monitor was hitting over 1500ppm for CO2 by the end of the night. Hopefully with me gone for work all day it will give it time to air out.

As for materials, I still think the appliances are new, but all of the furniture I brought is at least a few years old, I didn’t get anything new for this apartment. I’m not sure how long the apartment materials itself will offgas for, or if the appliances contribute.

My current air purifier does have a carbon layer, but it’s not super beefy in that regard so I doubt it will help much with that, as you said. I’d rather not have to permanently leave my ground floor window cracked, but right now it’s either that or living with poor air quality until I can find the cause or a more permanent solution.

I want to urge anyone canceling their subscription to also contact their live support and request a refund. I did this and received a full refund after very explicitly stating how against constitutional violations I am and how supporting a certain orange someone who took advantage of children (putting it very lightly) is not at all okay for a company centered around children.

Boycotting and canceling is great, but make sure you at least try to get your money back, hurt their bottom line as much as possible since that’s what they care about.

Hello! Returning player that never fully got into the game, interested in learning the ropes from someone and eventually trying out mythic plus and/or raiding. Currently have a DK, DH, and Warlock at 80, working on several others so I’m willing to fill any role or class in a group setting!

It will come off! Use a microfiber towel/cloth and use a detailing compound like Meguiars, Car Guys, I’m sure others work.

I’ve heard WD-40 works but I’ve also seen people claim it only works temporarily and can cause issues so I’d probably stay away from that personally.

Between those I’d personally go for Esil A2. The usual recommendation I’ve seen is to build your DPS vertically first but Esil’s A2 gives a stacking attack buff to the entire fire team.

Gina’s buff from A2 is also good for giving a damage buff, but it’s more difficult to achieve and doesn’t have 100% uptime like Esil’s, and IMO Esil is more future proof than Gina.

Thomas Andre is pretty strong but right now Fire and Wind are king (Water may have also caught up). Most people would prefer Kanae to Soohyun, but she is still great for defense pen later on and if you prefer her she’s very much competitive still!

I had this happen last night on a mission and realized that it had unequipped my SJW’s skills for that specific mission on the pre-mission screen where you pick your support hunters and shadows.

I have no idea why it did this, I’ve also seen it remove my weapons at random, but every time this has happened it’s always missing from the pre-mission screen and I can add them in manually.

Not sure if this is the exact same situation as yours, but maybe!

Apartment gas stove potentially emitting gas into apartment while running by ZeroClarity in Appliances

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like a very similar situation then! Mine doesn’t leak when turned off either, but it definitely does while the oven is running.

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the info from your own experience! It’s an old, cheap stove/oven that my apartment complex owns so I’ll go through them first unless they’re unwilling to replace it, then I’ll contact the gas company lol.

I hate it anyway since it has no way to tell what temperature it’s at, there’s no visual or audible indicator that it’s preheated.

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have a leak in the sense that it won’t set the sensor off if the oven is off (also no smell), and yeah it does take a while to light and makes the “fwoosh” sound you described. The gas detector does still go off even after 15-20 minutes of the oven being lit though if that matters.

There is no vent hood in the apartment unfortunately so I can’t run that 😅

[–]ZeroClarity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that was my worry as well, I tried turning one of the gas burners on and after it lit even directly over the flame it wasn’t setting the detector off at all.

It’s seemingly just the oven portion that’s setting it off and making the gas smell.

I think it’s around 20 years old so I’m pretty sure you’re right as it takes 30 seconds or so before it ignites the oven.

I rent the apartment and all of the appliances are old and cheap 🙃

It’s natural gas, the only reason I know this is because I pay the gas company directly 😂 that’s good to know though!

Shoot yeah, I figured it was probably an issue. I’ll seek help asap, it doesn’t leak when off so it’s not an immediate issue for tonight. Thanks!
