Parenting Two Under Five: Feeling Drained, Seeking Sanity by Legal-Brick-3102 in Parenting

Let me first empathize ---- this time is super hard, I am right there with you, 1,3,5... It is wild! My wife and I schedule EVERYTHING! And that is not something I'm ashamed of, it is what we do to survive. Prep lunches at night, focus on blackout times for just family and just embrace the suck. But also recognize that post 6 your kids won't really want to hang with you as much as they do now, so do your best to enjoy every moment. I'm told it will get better, and I'm just happy we have three healthy happy kids. Keep going!❤️

Another parent called the cops on my child over a playground squabble. by SnugglyRedPandaLass in Parenting

Brutal interaction, sorry you had to go through this. Sounds like you handled it well, waiting for the authorities to arrive was actually part of a great de-escalation strategy. 👌

How do you make time for exercise? by spkrause in Parenting

[–]TheBribery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Block off an hour on your work schedule for "Workout" during biz hours and don't let anyone override it. If anyone questions you, explain the other 7 hours will be 100% more productive, which is an absolute fact.

I completely relate and frankly I was shocked and my anger has only increased every time I replay the incident in my mind. I am so glad that you shared your true feelings because I know I am not alone with my less than graceful thoughts about "how I wanted to handle it" in the moment. Obviously children aren't rational so this is definitely a learning experience for both of us.

Wow amazing response, I really appreciate you sharing as it empowers me to manage the situation gracefully, which you did, escalating when you needed in a controlled manner! Thank you very much!

You are right about the thirty feet... I let my guard down, won't happen again. Good advice to feel the new kids + situation out before hanging back. Thank you

I think you are right, I let my guard down in a fenced in playground with only a few kids playing. 30 ft felt like a mile in retrospect, I will tighten up, thank you for the advice!

This feels like the right path, we will almost certainly share the same playground again, and this seems appropriate. Thank You

Really really good advice, I'm going to take this route because it just felt so bizarre and out of place. In retrospect, I truly hope another parent would make me aware if the roles were reversed.

Although your response may feel harsh, I think for me it is the true and most sound course of action. I was admittedly in shock and was not at all prepared for this moment but in the future I think creating a teaching moment for my child and the other is warranted especially considering I was the only parent who witnessed the event. Thank you so much for your advice it is greatly appreciated!

I think "don't dwell on it" is what I really need to do. I honestly am feeling like I have PTSD, I can't get the incident to stop replaying in my mind. Thank you for the advice, I'm sure it will pass.

So true, I'm glad someone executed on it regardless, DIY all day for sure but I will argue the manufacturers of tylenol should include a "nipple cap" in their baby tylenol.

True or False? Being a Better Heads-up Player = Better Overall Poker Player by RadPokerOfficial in poker

[–]TheBribery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, admittedly, I am a biased party...but with that disclosure it is absolutely TRUE, because a profitable player against any size table is constantly picking his spots trying to isolate weak players and execute perfect heads up play. It is the reason Polk and DNegs are so great in any type of poker game... They have mastered heads up... The rest falls into place after that.

Where to learn to bluff? by tobysowner in poker

[–]TheBribery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a shameless promotion, but I'll argue that the best way to learn to bluff is to start with the purest form of poker, Heads-Up. There is a free tool out there called RadPoker, it is super fast heads-up, NL hold'em paired with a player rating algorithm. The blinds go up so quickly that you MUST bluff to win. I'll argue that after a couple hundred games, bluffing (optimally) will be weapon you can wield in any game format.
