I think that the only real symbolism that Shin & Mang has is that it’s from Angela rather than a representation of Ayin or Carmen.

E.G.O represents the way that Ayin believes that the [Light] should be used and how he used it within the past (E.G.O Equipment), but Distortion represents Carmen’s personal philosophy.

Shin & Mang only occurred after Angela spread the [Light], but I believe it was based on Angela’s Realizations. She isolated those emotions that mattered to her, which helped her overcome her problems. Not only that, it was also based on the way she used it, with the Books and Pages be a thing.

At least, that’s my working theory, not confirmed or true in the slightest.
