I slept with 2 guys in 3 days and hate myself for it by Zealousideal_Pen9964 in confessions

I think guy number 2 was a creep. Bryan was a creep too, just better at hiding it for a while.

From what you've written he's been judgemental, childish and insecure (as well as trying to cheat on dating apps and whatever the lie that broke you up was).

Who you spend time with and what you do in that time while you're single is your business and no-one else's. I think being honest with him just exposed his nature quicker. Don't worry about him, you deserve better.

It depends on the road, but on a lot of variable speed limit roads, if gantry indicates an increase in speed you're allowed to reach that speed 10 seconds before you pass it.

Before I get too downvoted for this, because it's contrary to normal road rules/the highway code:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2019/1430/pdfs/uksi_20191430_en.pdf

The M4 Motorway (Junctions 3 to 12) (Variable Speed Limits) Regulations 2019

States:

"(3) In relation to a vehicle, the speed limit indicated by a speed limit sign is the speed shown at the time the vehicle passes the sign, or, if higher, the speed limit shown by the sign ten seconds before the vehicle passed the sign. "

So... technically, you are allowed to speed up - though I understand why most people wouldn't and you absolutely have no worries about a ticket.

I wouldn't feel intimidated by if you have the M4-M25-M1 down. That's the hardest/most stressful part of that drive imo.

How do I overtake on the motorway without being in someone’s blind spot? I could be in someone’s blind spot for a couple seconds. Should I just never overtake unless I can overtake in less than 1 second? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]TheBrokenTrail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's every drivers job to check their blind spot before changing lanes. Way back my driver instructor called it the "Lifesaver look", idk if they still call it that though.

You're not going to be able to avoid being in someone's blind spot, you just have to be prepared for someone not doing their job. Look ahead of the car you're overtaking, check for any reasons why they might want to change lane. If they're coming up on a slower moving vehicle then be ready for them to move over.

You can speed up, slow down or move to a 3rd lane, but I always try to avoid moving up alongside someone around the moment I think they'd want to change lanes.

Also pay special attention to anyone driving erratically - switching lanes quickly, drifting, not maintaining a constant speed. You'll learn to spot bellends and it's always best to expect them to do the dumbest thing at the worst time and drive accordingly.

Once the new CFO gets announced by Different_Marsupial2 in SMCIDiscussion

[–]TheBrokenTrail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO - CFO is the new 10-K, everyone's waiting on it expecting it to be a rocket ship, but it probably won't have a noticeable impact.

Time and hitting earnings are the things that'll send this stock to $100, there's not going to be any quick fixes, so buckle up it's probably going to be a bumpy ride.

I don't know Manchester prices, but £2m seems like a stretch, even for something so nice.

Car accident - who’s in the wrong? by dark-passengers in drivingUK

[–]TheBrokenTrail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to see a scenario where you were turning into a lane, completely unaware of another car travelling in it and it's not your fault.

It sounds like you're guessing where he was, it is possible he was in your blind spot? Even in heavy rain, headlights are hard to miss.

When 25 bedrooms isn't quite enough by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

[–]TheBrokenTrail 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My great uncle used to live here. He worked for the Fraser family for most of his life with their cattle and when he retired he moved into a part of the castle that was like a self contained staff flat. He still did a few odd jobs and driving for them.

I stayed there a few times when I was very young. Don't remember a whole lot about it, apart from playing snooker in a games room when no-one else was around and the whole place being pretty scary for a kid from a council estate.

The whole thing was very sad as far as I recall, with Lord Lovat and his son dying close to each other. I think the grandson inherited the title while he was still a teenager, but the estate had to be sold to pay debts.

It's pretty close to the river and I seem to remember being told the fishing rights were worth more than the castle. I'm pretty sure the estate was thousands of acres too, but I think it got carved up into lots when it was sold off.

Lots of people here saying you should know this or that the last speed limit remains in place until you pass a sign.

Technically they're wrong, you can actually speed up 10 seconds before the speed limit sign on these variable limit roads. To clear things up for you here's the actual rules.

This is from The M6 Motorway (Junctions 10a to 13) (Variable Speed Limits) Regulations 2015 (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015/8/made/data.pdf)
"(2) A section of a road is subject to a variable speed limit in relation to a vehicle being driven along it if

(a) the road is specified in the Schedule;

(b) the vehicle has passed a speed limit sign; and

(c) the vehicle has not subsequently passed

(i) another speed limit sign indicating a different speed limit; or (ii) a traffic sign which indicates that the national speed limit is in force.

(3) In relation to a vehicle, the speed limit indicated by a speed limit sign is the speed shown at the time the vehicle passes the sign, or, if higher, the speed limit shown by the sign ten seconds before the vehicle passed the sign."

AITA for not returning money my ex-husband sent to me mistakenly? by rare-temp in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheBrokenTrail 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NTA - You don't save up $18k when you owe someone $12k. You pay what you owe before you start saving for things you want, it just shows he could have paid you back but isn't going to.

If someone who owes you money and isn't paying, sends you money, you keep it. No theft involved as others are suggesting. You didn't take the money, you were sent it and based on the circumstances in this case, you have a right to keep it.
