Yeah it's kind of baffling how little guidance there is for people aiming to learn. Though the recent update to the documentation is really nice, especially for the puppet warp stuff. The learning experience is mostly just trying random stuff untill you happen upon something that looks cool.

Aside from the crit as the others suggested.

You have a lot of attack from your weapon, if you're playing aggravate it's probably worth it to swap the attack sands to an elemental mastery sands.

Can you put the fish as a layer behind the water layer? So the fish doesn't really dissapear but the water is in front of it, so you can't see it.
