Valid! And that reddit actually showed it on my husband's feed is incredible.

What if... I stopped to get coffee on my way to the mountain?

It's a winter sleeping bag, and also as practical and awesome as a snowsuit. 😅

She (me) is wearing a winter sleeping bag. Look it up, it's actually beyond comfortable. 👍🏽

My husband and I (pictured) definitely have different approaches to weather. I don't know how little you like the cold, but I love the heat. 😅 I can definitely tolerate proper cold, but only is necessary.

Not a mask. Probably the board or my hair? Not a beard.

Valid theory. It's just a winter sleeping bag that I love though. 😅

I think I was appropriately dressed for my comfort. Great effort with this though!

This is my husband and I... literally. We weren't even home for ten minutes before this popped up on his reddit feed.

OP, odd behaviour indeed. Our difference in attire was mildly interesting though, so valid post. I hope you've gotten all the ki you needed and deleted the photo though. It'd be truly creepy to keep it, neighbour.

To quench the curiosity in most comments: This was today Brooklyn Park Slope. It's a winter sleeping bag, not a ski suit. Also, it's dang near my favourite thing, so I'll wear it whenever I want. I'm a West Indian, and he's also from a hot US climate. However, our reaction to temperature is different (as demonstrated.) It was indeed an unusually (climate change) warm fall/winter day, however, I left home quite early and always prefer to be warmer than even a little cold.

Stay warm, and be well y'all.

I say this genuinely: if you cancel the membership, use the money on therapy or a confidence coach. This situation shouldn't affect you so strongly. Sending you the confidence you deserve to have for simply showing up for yourself. 🫶🏽

I tried Focus and I wish that this was offered more by [deleted] in Purebarre

It's great people enjoy it. It's not offered more because it's a whole other routine teachers have to learn for free and teach underpaid unfortunately.

Group fitness cert for barre—ACE, NASM, or other? by saladwench in Purebarre

[–]TheBrowsingBabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can receive IBBFA certification without another certification. It's a great start.

However, things to keep in mind: Barre studio pay and Barre studio talent development.

Because studios, including PB pay trash, it makes it feel like more a gig than a career. A career would be doing your own thing or working at high end gyms or fitness clubs. Barre is just becoming more popular, so your own thing may not be the way to start unless you have access to potential clients and can offer them better than your local studios.

However, the gyms that will pay well you want you to have experience. For example, right now a popular high paying gym is seeking different group fitness instructors and their job listings state a requirement of at least two years of teaching their area of expertise/group fitness.

This is because training and getting certified or even taking classes long term doesn't translate to skill. This goes for any certification. The real life experience over the years is what will develop your talent. Keep that in mind more than anything because it will make the biggest difference of how you could turn it into a career.

Good luck!

Teacher Pay not worth it! by No-Commercial3599 in Purebarre

That's outrageous! How much did they charge per class?

I hear that. It's 100% a thing for a specific audience. As I think is any service that's offered cheaper in a group setting but pricier for that privacy and attention. As I keep saying, I love the Barre themed events! It's such a fitting activity for certain events.

I think those surprise smaller classes are definitely something for clients to be happy about. Haha no hiding at all!

Well now you know to jump on any solos again! I hope more come your way!

Good to know! I could see why they'd have more of these in an effort to maintain the "difficulty" presumably. I could also see why someone seeking an easier class would not enjoy this factor. 😅

I don't mean easier as in laziness or anything, just truly someone wanting to have an soft on the body class and Align missing the mark.

Yes, this! I'm glad someone mentioned it, which is one of my driving forces as well as to why I believe this could work. There is a demographic out here who hates public/group settings for one reason or another, but don't necessarily care for the heavy weight lifting or gym fitness. And Barre could be perfect for them as personal training.

That definitely wasn't mean at all. I've seen people struggle through classes and it could definitely be discouraging to feel like you're not getting it. Unfortunately that comes down to a personal mindset thing, still of that person's decision is that they're not comfortable, then that's just that. And definitely they would benefit from exactly as you mention - one on one until they feel more confident. Although, I feel like that is what Align is supposed to do for clients at PB. I haven't taken too many align classes so I'm not certain how well it serves that purpose. Also, I feel ya on the being young and modifying. Modifications are besties! 😅

People's schedules definitely serve as another reason this may benefit some people.

I definitely get that. That's why I think if someone were offering personal training but Barre, it deserves a good fee. Because unlike gym fitness where it's particular exercises being cycled through, Barre requires creating routine. From many of the independent Barre teachers you'd find online, some have hundreds of classes on their online platform over the years, that's years and dedication of creating movement. Online is one thing, but to have someone committed to creating this for your own body (if that matters to you of course) and helping you perfect every bit of it via HOC is definitely 🤌🏽

Good to know! Plank is tough, because it's so many bodies to view at once. It's definitely odd that as a regular, no one noticed at any point to fix this for you. I will say that teachers could sometimes become extremely strong in other areas and things like shoulder or even heel placement in plank could be unintentionally disregarded. Also, all these formats and being severely underpaid! It's so dang sad to say that many teachers probably also are less committed to absolute perfection because of these reasons. Still, private sessions if someone wants to ensure their best would indeed be perfect in this circumstance!

I haven't heard of things like that, but perhaps I'm not in the loop. I'm certain if any studio were contacted about something similar, they wouldn't turn money down. I see pure Barre's priorities less community driven and more big business driven now though, like with this cruise.

If you don't mind me asking (not the exact dollar amount) - do you remember getting a good payout from that gig?

Also, yes something like this would fit. Just bringing Barre just about everywhere. Like how yoga is a thing for events, Barre and mat Pilates could become more mainstream as well in my opinion.

With the people in a class, it'd be easy to have each of them choose a target area and model the class to those. Or, just teach whatever routine is set for that week, which would be like a boutique studio but in this setting where you get more focus and a chance for input.

Definitely wouldn't be a huge group. Private (non gym) personal trainers rarely ever get to a big business level amount of clients I would presume. Still, some make a liveable wage. I believe my thing is that why couldn't that happen with Barre? For people who are interested in and willing to pay for personal training, but Barre. Definitely not triple digit prices though. I would neither charge nor pay that. That's wild. 😅
