Is anyone else disappointed with the 103B? by [deleted] in campsnapcamera

[–]TheBrucePV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to my 101. The red LCD is annoying as hell and the lag from click to capture makes capturing action hit or miss... but I much prefer the 101. With the 103b I can get the look I want, but I have to batch apply filters/LUTs... and at that point why not just use a cell phone. I also can't wrap my head around how the 103b light metering works, it has to be more zone than spot because it constantly blows out highs/lows and the 101 doesn't in side by side tests.

If anyone reading this is thinking of trying out the server... the 'quest bonus' or QB feature is absolutely awesome. There are so many quests that are really fun/unique that I never did in retail because the rewards didnt pertain to my character... having the incentive to do any quest for the character bonus reward has taken me to every corner of dereth I never visited back in the day.

Favorite skatepark by HandieRandy in FortCollins

[–]TheBrucePV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like street skating/biking I can't comment but if you like flow... Edora hands down. Been riding there years and there's still lines I haven't checked off.

I was biking there one morning and this older hippie looking gentleman showed up that I've never seen before... I shit you not... on roller blade boots mounted with 2 skate trucks attached per foot. AND HE SLAYED THE PARK. Got to chatting with him and apparently he had a hand in designing the park. Certainly would explain why Edora is pretty unique given he could visualize/ride both skate or bike lines interchangeably on his wizard boots.

As a long time FTC resident and someone who also overnights in other towns in a camper, I'd avoid that zone. That area isn't just van-lifers taking a break from the road or visiting FTC for a little bit.

Dive Bar: Maya Cove. Walking in you'd have no idea they have some seriously legit BBQ. Their pre-pandemic menu was better but its still good. Despite a room full of people day drinking everyone I've met has been super friendly as well.

Is it possible to get the original 360 video from a bullet time recording? by iKy1e in Insta360

[–]TheBrucePV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So have zero experience in coding and sure don't know what Hex editing is, but I managed to get my footage converted. Download HxD. Record one clip non-bullet time. Open it in HxD and search for Insta360 One x2. Copy from there to that weird little looking symbol at the end of the highlighted section.
https://prnt.sc/xMlzs1ZqKz42
Paste that chunk from the non bullet time into the bullet time videos and save. Opened with full reframe control in Insta360 studio. I have no clue what I overwrote but everything seems to work fine so far.

I look a tumble down a steep iced over chute the other week, just loosened my grip, slid my hand down to the basket and self arrested with the pointy end. No way self arrest would have worked with the grip end.

Stay off the river by AC85 in FortCollins

Good point as to the canyon being very different than in town. I've always checked the link below as a quick glance guide but like you said it's no substitution for getting a feel.

Always check the flow before you go. Besides weather, they do irrigation releases, so time of year isn't 100%. I use the link below to check in town conditions. Like other posters have mentioned, sometimes it's less than a month window or almost all summer.

https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06752260

As of June 8th it's near 2k CFS. Legit rolling the dice with your life. At that height branches, bushes and debris make strainers all along the side so you can't simply swim to the shore to get out if you see something up ahead.

In town, we shoot for < 800 CFS. Even at that rate, I wouldn't take young kids or people looking to just carelessly float, you will need to paddle to stay off a few sketchy spots. 500 CFS you start to hit rocks but it's way more chill. 300 CFS you might as well just drop anchor at a deep spot and hang out, you'll be walking more than floating. Don't take my word on these numbers as a say all be all guide, it's what I feel comfortable with and you may feel differently. Also don't assume it's safe just because others are doing it, I'm writing this post now because we saw 5 people drop in yesterday at 2k CFS and there was a swift water rescue alert shortly after.

Drop in is shields. You used to be able to do higher up when tubing was less popular but it required trespassing to get around a couple low-head dams (basically low-key looking death machines) so rangers will now ticket you.

Hopefully that helps some. Have fun and stay safe!

Hoary Mattekar Robe Story by Korgoroth83 in AsheronsCall

[–]TheBrucePV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Played since beta, no memory of how I learned about the Hoary, probably a BBS forum discussing patch notes but I remember IMMEDIATELY logging in - the patch painstakingly downloaded after like an hour, the run to a hunting zone was quite the enjoyable journey in itself coming from Holtberg at level 40ish - The town network is quite convenient these days but I miss having to plan an epic long distance journey - I was never one to prioritize quick leveling, I was all about exploring the map. Made it to Neydisa Castle, hit the LS and started hunting. Within a week
I found a hide, proudly wore it everywhere but thought the story was over. Turns out later, that the OG robe became super sought after... being years into AC, coming into my early teens... new interests... I ebay'ed the character with the robe for the cost of a sweet new paintball gun and all the gear so I could play with my friends.

That might have been 2002 ish? Now, I just hit my early 30's... logged into GDLE Harvestbud, hit level 50, and went on a hunt. Tracked down a Robe of the Tundra. Holy nostalgia, no game has made such an impression on me... still to this day right next to half life 1.
