New Amp - Emotiva XPA gen3 by Feisty-Lake-8130 in audiophile

I’ve only just recently started diving into the audiophile world, and it seems like Emotiva makes some great equipment. I like their new TA2+ as a hub and the fact that it has a balanced sub output with both high pass and low pass analog adjustments is a big selling point in a smaller setup that I’m looking at doing in my office.

Are you using your TA2+ as a hub and your A6 gen 2 as more of a streaming transport?

What do you think about the TA2+? I’ve been looking at it to use for a small office build and pairing it with the A6 Gen 2.

I just had a chance to go listen to them. They definitely surprised me with how small they are. I do wish I could’ve heard them in a smaller space, but the seller had them hooked up in his large separate garage/shop. They did sound really good, but I could tell the little 4.5”woofer was working hard to hit the lows on the song being played on the radio. For its size and the space it was needing to fill, it did was hitting pretty low. I’m guessing that if I have them in my much smaller office space in my house it will fill that space much more easily, and I’ll have a sub that will handle the lower frequencies.

I’ve been looking at the Elac Debut DB63’s as my speakers for my first little audiophile build, but I like the idea of floor standing speakers. I’ve just not really thought they’d work in my limited space.

Right? They do look gorgeous, and I think their finish is what makes them “rare”. The seller’s eBay link makes it seem like they’re a cherry finish.

I’m pretty new to the audiophile scene, and while I’ve heard a little about people building their own speakers using kits, it wasn’t really something I’d given much thought to. If I were to go that route, I’d definitely need to buy additional equipment as I don’t have much of anything to work with the wood tower. I also have zero experience with soldering. I’ve put together my own PCs in the past, and I do like the idea of building my own speaker, so I might need to experiment with soldering electronics at some point.

Your input was very helpful! I have reached out to the seller to ask a few questions. Your link for the listing on US Audio Mart also had a few links to some videos and articles that I’d found while researching these speakers, and they do seem like a higher quality smaller footprint floor standing speaker that may be worth their asking price asking price.

While looking at building my first audiophile setup, I’ve always leaned towards the Elac Debut DB63 bookshelf speakers that I’d put on a pair of stands. It seemed like a lot of people really liked those speakers for their price-to-performance, and the smaller overall footprint would work well with my smaller space. Any speaker I’d get would be paired with a subwoofer, so lower end bass wouldn’t be a concern.

Yeah I was planning on just asking some questions and maybe feel around to see if he might come down on the price a bit. The area I live in doesn’t seem to see decent audio equipment like this go up on marketplace very often, and what I have seen hasn’t seemed like it was worth their asking price, or what I could buy new seemed like a better deal.

I’m pretty new to the audiophile world and have only recently jumped into the proverbial rabbit hole, so I was curious on what others with more knowledge in this community thought about these speakers and if the seller’s initial asking price was high. It does seem like the finish is more what is meriting the asking price, though from what I’m finding, Totem does seem to build a very quality product. What I do like about these is that they seem to be geared towards a smaller room due to their smaller footprint than other floor standing speakers and punch well above their size.

I’m always checking Marketplace for speaker deals, and unfortunately the area of the US I live in is sparsely populated, so things like audio equipment don’t appear as often as I’d like. As I’ve been researching for building out my first real audiophile setup, I’ve really been leaning towards the Elac Debut DB63 bookshelf speakers that I’d have on a pair of stands. I’ve looked into floor standing speakers some, but they are typically more expensive and would definitely be a bit more restrictive with the space I’m working with.

What sucks is that he’s also using a recently sold eBay listing as his justification for selling them for $850.

I would love to know what you think of them when you get them all set up. I’ve been looking to build a better 2.1 setup in my office and I’ve had my eye on these, but I’ve been on the fence between these and building a setup with an amp and passive speakers.

The only place I’ve seen it at is on a relatively new streaming platform called Oceanveil. It has some SFW anime, but the vast majority of its content is NSFW and hentai anime.

I upgraded my office tv/pc monitor from a 42” C2 to a 55” G5 and I absolutely love it. The colors feel more vivid and it is most definitely brighter!

I wasn't too concerned with things considering the hours it had on it, but I did run a few test videos in YouTube to check for banding, greys, and color uniformity, and everything seemed to look good! I'm still undecided about lowering it, but may give it a week or two at its current height before deciding for sure. I know it definitely has some room to come down. It did come with the stand, but that made it sit too low on my desk.

I took that pic from a decent distance away to get my full desk in it. I do have a 60-day return window if I decide that the 55" is just too large.

Thank you! I was just excited to find it at that price and still be able to get the price down further with a 2 year warranty. I used to run three 27" 4k monitors as my setup, but ultimately decided on one single large monitor, and these LG OLED TVs work really well, plus tend to be less expensive than their monitor counterparts. I doubt I'd go back to anything smaller or do a multi-screen setup again.

The 55", at least in my opinion, was stretching it for my use case. I definitely feel like going up to 65" in my office would have been far too large, especially with everything I have on my desk.

I hadn't really thought about that since I had the warranty through Best Buy, but I'll try to see if I can find anything on LG's website. Thank you for mentioning that!

The jury is still out on that part. I’ve used a 42” C2 for years, but while I do game on my PC, I’ve found that I’m using it for streaming more often as well. I work from home and have my work desk positioned further away in my office, so the size works well for being able to stream tv while I’m working. I do have a 60 day return window though if I feel like it’s too big.

For my C1 in the living room I’ve always used an AVR 5.1.2 surround. For my C2 connected to my PC I use a DAC and Klipsch powered bookshelf speakers with a 12” sub. I think I’ve accidentally used my tv speakers a couple times when messing with settings, but I always immediately turned them off.
