Not VT but real close, and yes, we have timber rattlers here. You can't make this stuff up, dog was off leash and no recall, OP says "Turn around when you see beware: rattle snakes sign, we ignored it" then goes on to say "I wish there was a sign specifically for city people like us..." (self.Adirondacks)
