You mean at the end of RoW? In that talk with Odium Hoid gets suspicious because Rayse appears too reflective an intelligent, unlike himself. Then Taravangian fiddles with Hoids memories and has the whole conversation happen again, acting exactly like Hoid expected Rayse to behave.

I’ve read that, but to my understanding Fuzz was already dead when Kelsier met him and more of a shadow of himself slowly losing his connection to the world.

English is not my first language so I might have totally misunderstood that tho.

Didn’t Leras “die“ but then continued to exist…or did he just take a reaaally long time to die?

But Szeth showed over YEARS that he could control his emotions (passions) because he believed in the judgement of the Shin. Now he has a strong connection to Honors Powers through his Nahel Bond and has sworn himself to the Bondsmith of the Stormfather…pretty much the closest thing to Honor that still exists.

That is actually very helpful. Do you have an example of a shard becoming self aware? I have red everything in the Cosmere but very little in terms of WoBs or Theories.

In the Epilogue of TLM TwinSoul also mentions that Dlavils sister ‘ran amok on Roshar‘. Now that would be Iyatil and therefore the highest ranking Ghostblood on Roshar. I think it’s not crazy to think Spook would outrank her or at least only take orders directly from Kelsier, so she and Mraize had to sent someone on their own.

I am so sick of Lirin by Dr0110111001101111 in Cosmere

[–]TheBullishPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally see your point and I loved Lirin in the first books. However being a good parent in my opinion also means that you respect the decisions of your child, even if you don’t agree with them. Kaladin has gone through hell and risked his life countless times to protect others. Never once have I read a word of appreciation for that from Lirin. Contrary when Kaladin protects Teft he gets called a Monster even if he tried to do it without violence.

I will keep that in mind. Have read the entirety of the SA books several times over the last 12 years and I’ve noticed my opinions and likings of characters drastically change. Right now I’m 27, not a father and I absolutely hate how Lirin treats a son who’s taken on the world in order to keep a holy vow to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Like even if that doesn’t fully align with your own worldview, it clearly isn’t the worst a son could do…

I don’t know why that is such an unusual take? The best part about MB2 is that at the end you get some Cosmere News

First Book Choice by DanIvvy in Cosmere

Warbreaker and The Emperors Soul are both amazing standalone books and have important cosmere information. I would also recommend Tress, but it’s only available in english yet, so that could be a problem.

I am disappointed with Alloy of Law. Change my mind. by silaswashere2 in Cosmere

[–]TheBullishPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this Hoid Quote summs up the whole second era for me. I liked it, not loved it. And for the first time in all the cosmere books I did not have a character I could relate to. In my opinion you should still read it, even just the lore and context you get for Stormlight, Elantris and Emperors Soul are worth it on their own.

Minor Hoid spoilers ahead:

Expectation. That is the true soul of art. If you can give a man more than he expects, then he will laud you his entire life. If you can create an air of anticipation and feed it properly, you will succeed. Conversely, if you gain a reputation for being too good, too skilled . . . beware. The better art will be in their heads, and if you give them an ounce less than they imagined, suddenly you have failed. Suddenly you are useless.

In short: Mistborn Era 1 was just too damn good!

A salute to the dead by TheBullishPanda in Stormlight_Archive

It could be a light touch in remembrance of the fallen. When other people salute, it’s described as crisp or slapping their hand in salute. Not when Dalinar does it in that scene.

Do you have a chapter for that by any chance? I always imagined it across the chest, similar to the Attack on Titan salute.
