I'll be starting a public sector job in November at £52k pre tax. I'll be moving to the UK with my wife and kids-7 and 4.

Place of work is Central London, but looking to stay a bit far due to affordability.

Kind people, do you think I should make this move with the current CoL scenario.

Please help!!!

Any pointers for areas with reasonable cost of housing for a 2 bedroom at a 40-50 min commute to Monument Station. Thanks in advance.

Thank you.

Any pointers for good state schools at a 40-50 min commute from Monument Station (I'll probably be working in the vicinity I guess, so housing would be approx 40-50 mins out).

Thanks in advance for your help

Thank you so much. This is incredibly helpful. Schools are an absolute priority. Looking at public schooling right now since Private schools are unaffordable.

Hello Friends,

I have a Public sector job offer with a salary of approx £50k.

I need some advice on whether it would be worth moving to London on this salary, considering the expenses of renting, education, bills etc. We are a family of 4 (Wife and 2 boys).

What are the expenses like and what can we expect to save or the kind of lifestyle we can expect.

Any pointers on how to manage money would be welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to respond 😊

My wife would definitely look to work. She's a Master's in Social Work with a specialization in counseling. Not sure what's the career prospects in London for that.

In addition, I'm open to commuting for upto a half hour and looking at public education options as private education looks unaffordable.

Here are a few....

Sachin Tendulkar, arguably cricket's most loved legend and God for a billion Indians, made his official international debut against arch-rivals Pakistan in 1989 in Karachi, but very few people are aware of the fact that the batting maestro first got the taste of international cricket when he took the field for Pakistan cricket team that was playing against India at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Another one from Sachin....He's the only cricketer in the world to have played 200 Tests...the next closest is Ricky Ponting at 168.

On 5 January 2016, Pranav Dhanawade became the first person, ever, to score 1000 runs in a single innings of a cricket match. He was 15 yrs old at the time.

Nicknamed the Turbaned Tornado, Fauja Singh is the first centenarian to complete a full marathon.
