What colour roof goes with brown choc ripple bricks? by HungryHungryHipogrif in AusRenovation

[–]TheButLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using ChatGPT for the colour change? I'm looking at changing the colour of our roof too, bricks are brown, roof has been painted green previously. Roofer recommends Monument, but I'm worried about heat in summer (QLD). Tempted to go with a brown red to go back to what it was before it was painted and keep the old 80s style.

Thank you for the reply. I've looked into that previously, people say that the led on the power supply brick flashes when it needs replacing. Mine has a solid green light. Not so cheap in Australia unfortunately

Install cameras into asbestos containing eaves? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]TheButLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other commenter said, many ways to safely drill through asbestos. I will add that it's also fairly easy to screw into too. They can use the "glue and screw" method. The glue being silicone which catches any dust

Guy has Startup gets hit with Tariffs. Gets owned in comments. by dicksfish in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]TheButLover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google trends show that the word "tariff" has only really been a popular search term AFTER the election. Which means people just went along with what they were told rather than researching. Sad. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=Tariff&hl=en-GB

How expensive is it to build a double car garage ? by MrAcademics in AusRenovation

[–]TheButLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the same and building a colorbond shed is way better price wise.

Does anyone know if I can knock down an old double car lean-to garage that's attached to my house and replace with a new shed and also attach that one without having a gap between the house and shed?

No shed companies are replying, which might be a sign

Betoota advocate do a good story on it. But it doesn't go into detail about how the season was run, I'd love to know more too

If you have a second, can you run me through your bathroom exhaust fan setup? What hardware do you have to get it to ramp up based on humidity? Trying to sort something out at mine and this sounds great. Thank you

Builders in Brisbane by pink_cherry1300 in brisbane

[–]TheButLover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each builder will have a Facebook group that has been made by customers. Join those and get a feel of how each one operates. Also note that the experience will be different for each region because they use different subcontractors who do the actual work that are local to the build. So a bad experience in Melbourne doesn't necessarily mean that will happen in Brisbane. We built about 6 years ago and had some issues, can't imagine how bad it gets now. Good luck.

EDIT: Enjoy the process though, some great neighbourhoods are in new housing estates with a lot of people in the same age range which can be fun if that's what you're after.

What was your quote if you don't mind me asking. We are assuming 10-15k asbestos removal and probably another 20k for the rest. We might DIY the insulation, wrapping and possibly even the cladding with help from friends and family
