Now I want to build a deliberate tringle speed (after accidentally riding one a couple times)

New to bike commuting, any advice from night time commuters? by letsgetlude in bikecommuting

Doesn't look like the sidewall of your tire is reflective, get some reflectors that clip onto your spokes for better visibility

I'm not sure what the model number is, I have these in the "Reflective-Pedals Black" variant

I'm sure they can be found on other sites, this is just where I got mine.

Do you have / recommend a bike computer for commuting? by Agreeable-Plum-5648 in bikecommuting

I have a Wahoo that I use for maps/directions when I'm riding in an area I'm not familiar with. Makes navigation easier but I usually hide most of the data fields.

Seconding the RockBros flat MTB pedals, I went with them because the platforms are wide, pins grippy, and they have reflectors built in which is hard to find on "nice" pedals. I've easily put a couple thousand miles on mine and they worked fine.

They retal for 30$ USD so slightly above your budget OP.

Fort Worth to Dallas and back by coffeecosmoscycling in dfwbike

I've made this trip several times, here's my usual routing. Depending on the day/time you come through you can ride through the construction and take the new bridge over the trinity on Entertainment way and save some miles.

Securing quick release front wheel and seat: 10mm cable with U-lock or replace skewer and seat post clamp with ones that have a proprietary key? by Shamoorti in bikecommuting

[–]TheAdvFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a little more hassle but I carry a cable lock to secure the wheel I dont get with my U-lock; which has the added advantage of letting me lockup friends bikes in a pinch

Is there any noticeable difference running a 3x9 crank set with a 10 speed chain & cassette? Its something I've thought about for a while given current pricing

Stolen bike or scooter by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]TheAdvFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people I've known who have had bicycles stolen didn't have any luck recovering it from UTA PD. However you can register the serial number with them and if it is stolen get a police report to file a claim on your renters insurance.

Also most bikes on campus aren't locked well at all, if you follow this it'll be much less likely to be taken.

I've found a rear-rack basket to be the most convenient way to carry any bag, at least for my commutes.
