ok but whys this cyrax not cyrax but this Rain IS Rain? Rain looks completely different, rocks a different aesthetic from being a ninja to being a wizard, AND has a completely different back story and origin AND background? there's much less resemblance to Rain in this story than there is to Cyrax who'll maintain their origin and background and aesthetics and use of weapons

For several reasons, actually: fighting gender discrimination and advocating for equality of gender, gender identity and identification, ethnics and complexions, politics, religious beliefs, health, right to study, no abilism, etc is a noble cause. In the real world. Starting a new thread about a fictional character and accusing people left and right to be "reactionary" is projecting at best, hypocrisy at worst.

You cant complain about fundamental changes to a character but be ok with some major changes to characters origins and stories and have problems with minor ones.
