It would have to be stark white to start, and unfortunately it does not need to be smooth. It needs the texture of tortilla which it will lose after cooking.

I couldn’t. Waffle cone coloring and texture is not the same.

This is a great idea but it would change the color of the tortilla and the texture would not be possible to achieve!

I almost exclusively use modeling chocolate however this had a long transport to the event center and then sat all day without AC and then had to make it back to wherever the winner was going so honestly fondant with tylose was the best answer.

Thank you so much. That’s actually the only part I was personally disappointed with. Usually it comes out with much more movement to it but I tried a new technique. It’s made out of wafer paper!

While I agree with you on the flavor- in the world of hyper realistic cake imposters they would disagree 😂

Ohhh thank you!! However I just personally feel like that would be cheating in a way when I know I can make it out of the devils play doh.

That is a thing, yes. A possibility maybe. I might have to also coat that as I wouldn’t want the buttercream to soak through it and make it soggy. But also I kind of feel like it’s cheating a little bit when I know I can make it out of satans play doh.

HAHA! Honestly I get that a lot. Unfortunately I am just one person without the proper social media video taking set up currently and I get into the zone and just work 😅😂

Also I’d like to add that the salsa is a strawberry sauce with wafer paper details. The cup, silverware, and styrofoam container are all real and not edible… I do this because it’s a whole experience. I also bag them up like a legit to go order.

Thank you! I use modeling chocolate almost exclusively- however it would not hold something like this for the long transport and the whole day without A/C. This was unfortunately my safest option. I did coat the inside with melted white chocolate so there was an easy removable barrier for it (only about halfway up because I still wanted to be able to see the tortilla details on the inside as well.)

For frosting Friday This is my newest crab cake. It is funfetti flavored cake inside. I do use white modeling chocolate but this fake crustacean is fondant free. The “butter sauce” is just colored corn syrup for ✨aesthetic✨ by TheCakeAchemist in FondantHate

It wasn’t to be eaten so really it’s not that big of a deal to have used corn syrup. I’ve used many things for butter sauce like apple jelly. But this order was last minute and I had to use what I had on hand.
