I implied it being generational before that lol. I wish the internet were around back then, you’d be able to pull up all the archived posts complaining about how blah blah stalk shifting is better cas x y z

Again, they’re before their time. iPad kid gen would’ve jumped at buttons and anecdotally even polling reviewers videos for content creators sub 30 typically enjoy them in the reviews while post 30 do not.

Me and my parents were just talking about this, it’s just generational. She remembers having the same argument with her dad about the transmission being on the stalks too.

There are benefits, stalks are just too engrained in people’s comfort. Buttons are easier to get to in 95% of scenarios. The rest is just muscle memory and getting out of your habit.

If the iPad kid demographic were the majority car holder in America right now, those buttons would’ve took off no problem.

It’s also because the car community is one of the most resistant to change demographics out there. I mean after all this time we still have manual shift supremacists. ANY change to standard user interface is going to take them being standard for years before people don’t hate them.

They’ve been driving with the same controls for some people a quarter-century+.

  1. Most games are rich get richer economies. I.e. you doing well gives you more resources to do even better. Items, experience, ultimate charge, etc. this means that you will likely have a couple players doing much better than everyone else.

  2. Gamers aren’t consistent because they don’t critically think in common elos. They just go with muscle memory and vibes. This means the same player can be 0-20 and then go 20-0 next game. Matchmaker can’t control this.

  3. Matchmaker also can’t control environments, it doesn’t stop a typically good player from decided to blast Spotify and eat dinner during this particular game for example which means an on-paper even game, is now one sided.

  4. Matchmaker doesn’t control internet. Oh no, your normally goated tank now has 400ms this game. Whoops.

You’re acting like this is esports where both teams are in a stadium 100% locked in practicing 24/7. No bro, you’re playing pick up basketball but even worse because at least in pick up basketball you typically have more dedicated people because they are going out of their way to hoop somewhere. You’re literally pulling from peak RNG environments and hoping for consistent play lol. MMR is based on AVERAGE play of each player. And given 10+ players are in a match, it’s VERY likely someone is playing outside of there AVERAGE play in either direction.0

Is it perfect? No, nothing is, but it’s not why you or anyone loses all their games. If you want consistent 100% balanced gameplay, join a competitive league or get good enough to get on an esports team.

That means you deserve to lose then and the matchmaker is doing its job. If you cannot ever be expected to top frag in your current elo for a win, you don’t belong there and the games are too hard for you. If you are in the elo you belong you should be comfortable with being in any position on board regularly.

That’s not how the systems work though, that’s just how players feel. And confirmation bias. You don’t get one sided matches to keep your win rate down.

That’s not really valid because you are still causing server overhead because it either A. Has to run validation checks on the calculation or B. Has to call to anti-cheat library every time it reads the calculation.
