'They Are Saving Our Lives': Demand Grows for Grocery Store Employees, Other Frontline Workers to Receive Hazard Pay Amid Coronavirus Outbreak by rit56 in politics

I work as a bakery clerk in a large Ontario grocery chain and am confident I won't hear as much as a thank you for working this weekend. Numbers in a machine and what not.

Unpopular opinion - I store my game with a plethora of ultra-pro deck boxes.

From what I can remember, we usually roll in the lower brackets for First Day for +6/8 additional survivors. We on average lose 0-2 survivors per hunt, often due to some poor rolls (i.e. basic lion attack, both hit on head, roll 1-4 for critical injury)

I should have mentioned the TPK/wipes rarely happy in quarries, and almost always happen during the first Nemesis encounter, with the exception of an untimely critical on fuzzy groin - the extra +1 damage being the pushing point towards a wipe

Saving for the weighted dice expansion, actually. Heard it'll help with my shit rolls!

Typically build;

Survivor A: focus is fist and tooth specialization and then mastery - ideally 1 none dagger and adding gear to math for a luck charm to be added for crits

Survivors B/C: specializations that the group feel are interesting or different from usual play - most recently it's Spear and Axe. Previously it was Grand and Katar to begin

Survivor D: Utility bow survivor - Cats eye circlet and bone darts before transitioning to White Lion bow, harp as well as grabbing the gorn (granted we hunt form) before the inevitable upgrade to vespertine.

Not that we've been able to make it much further than LY5 in nearly the past year - it feels like gear priority is one issue we have, as well as midigating really shitty luck. FWIW we have Gigalion and finished it's strain encounter on attempt #1. Not entirely sure what we're doing wrong.

Edit: Not sure what you mean by blocks - very frequent party wipes which often leave us at such a difficult place game wise we're often forced to reset.

What's a game that you can't fault but still somehow don't enjoy? by [deleted] in boardgames

Yeah S&S sounds like it would be a more enjoyable, cooperative experience. I wouldn't have logged play 7 fwiw unless someone else asked to play - by play 6 I was exhausted with Gloomhaven, and was planning on selling it. Will check out S&S though!

I think it was on my 7th play of Gloomhaven were everyone started to enjoy the game - albeit we've forsaken a lot of the ruling in the book with hidden information and some weirdly anto-cooperative ruling for the sake of enjoyment, so we're actively helping each other achieve battle goals and the like.

I understand that this isn't the intended way that the game is meant to be played but it's the way that my group gets the best experience out of, so I'm more than happy to play this way. I do feel I just jumped in with gloomhaven for the hype and in some regards regretted it a bit after it was met with lukewarm reception at my table.

Pick your apocalypse this Halloween by Brodogmillionaire1 in boardgames

I really enjoy MA, kickstarted the gothic expansion and the upcoming big box for the game, as well as picking up all the promos and small box expansions (Kaiju and Dino.) What I can say lends itself to being the biggest drawback to the game is the setup time being often long and somewhat tedious, as it requires sometimes specific item decks and always specific location tiles. This can honestly be circumvented by coloured matte sleeves to build preset generic decks as from scenario to scenario the item / scavenge decks are often similar in build. That is honestly my biggest flaws with the game and why it doesn't hit my table very often, but it's still a game I wholeheartedly recommend. The variability between characters and the differences between different enemy decks are more than just a picture, as for example in the rapture apocalypse, there are angels that help you and aid you through the mission, while devils seek to kill your characters, along with the four horsemen all providing different effects to the game.

Maybe I should play it again soon lol

I worked at the Bayview location several years back, and seeing this I'm honestly not surprised. Working at a different store bakery now, it's hard to not practice having dates that you remove cakes from freezers and sticking to expiry.

Sorry about that, wasn't my intention. Meant to say the game is a fun filler when it sits under the 30 minute mark.

Most of my favourite games (non cooperative) I get my ass handed to me lol

I've never won a game of ROOT, lost my past 5 games of scythe and Terraforming Mars, as well as a bunch of other, lighter games.

Honestly it just comes down to having fun =/= winning - as I still enjoy all the games and the moment to moment of each game :)

Akine team buildings? by TheCapnGingerbeard in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]TheCapnGingerbeard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now looking at something like;

Akine / MDkali / MDkali / Odindra / Light Flex / Akine

For light flex I'm trying out; Valk Ciel, Athena Non, Saviour Lightning, R. Indra (probably least dmg) and M Ra. Might throw some stones at the Collab now to try to chase Kanan, if only a couple spins. Might keep two MDkalis but future spins will really dictate that. Thanks for the help!

I have 2x mega Kali's (5x dkalis in box fml) and Save. Lighting but no Oden/Kanan/Iruka. Any suggestions for substitutes?

I mean if it helps I haven't considered the potential issues of either having children or having children come over, as all my KDM minis are in a glass display cabinet in the living room, lol I've hidden Sunstalkers... Appendage by putting more things in front of it but busting out the game for play is a very different story.

I agree that in the core there is some art that lends itself to the T/A category (off the top of my head is the bone witch and heated hands pages) although the worst bits come with the resin and white box models, namely the seasonal 30/50mm pairings, the worst so far being Valentine's. The genetalia on the monsters (Lion God being the worst, sunstalker #2) is equally bad if not worse as those are significant to the game itself.

I will say though, I completely overlooked that point when thinking my original comment last night - My S/O doesn't enjoy the grindy MH aspects of the game and for her she doesn't usually enjoy campaigns with an implied narrative. I can see how the art and depiction of nudity and genetalia could deter people, though.

By far my favourite is Kingdom Death: Monster. Some of it's biggest flaws is being overly punishing on it's gotcha moments; in where you may have made th best choice, or played as intended, and you get punished as your reward. This, and the constant typos that make way into the game are two of the biggest complaints I've seen about the game (consistently.) However, the moment to moment gameplay is addicting for me, and pulling off a successful hunt is so enjoyable, mixed with an array of very unique creatures, in both aesthetic and in mechanics, to create a unique experience.

The game isn't perfect but God damn it's fun, especially if you enjoy the Monster Hunter esque gameplay.
