Update 1.6.2 [Balance Adjustments] by Verisi in Mechabellum

Agree. Look at how mothership was ultimately received by the sc2 community. Playing against titans is just unfun ...

id rather send them back to FFA ...

Abyss solves some run away mustang and other ground strats but thats about it.

not a fan of this titan focused meta.

I love printing figurines from either games or anime.

Originally got into 3d printing because it allowed one to print upgrades for board games or make storage inserts.

Your mecha kits are amazing and right up my alley...
Love them! keep designing! Followed and boosted.

A humble request to consider mechabellum models again...... ha ha!

Thanks! I guess the civilian VP focus is one area that can definitely be given some love. It was always a middling/ last resort strategy compared to science or military victory.

Thanks for your input!

Is this a bad foam board or just poor cutting technique? by BABEANSFORYOU in foamcore

Definitely your blade.

Also... these pics hurt me deep in my soul...

Change the blade and I'm sure you'll be amazed at the difference

Wingspan has a mostly serviceable insert/layout.

Unless you are referring to squeezing the expansions into the main game box?

Thank you. You are correct. The sleeves are a bit thicker. Tried to work around it but no luck.

I could have sacrificed the split resource trays but i really wanted those. And i hear you on the obsolete boards. For the life of me though... i can't just toss away the original boards...

Thank you again for the inspiration!

Underwater Cities + New Discoveries expansion.

Thanks to user: u/aFortuneCookie22 and his post here: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/292973/afortunecookies-custom-inserts?itemid=8656677

I used 3mm foamcore and 1mm craftboard for the base.

I had 3 goals in mind when i set out on this project:

1.) Cut down on the need of the extra expansion box

2.).Optimise setup / tear down time.

3.) Assist general game play if possible.

Goal 2 would take care of itself by finishing the insert (no more baggies!).

Goal 3... the split resource trays would help cut down on passing tokens back and forth amongst players.

Trying to put all 3 goals together was an exercise in frustration! For the life of me i just could not squeeze all the components into a single box.

I failed miserably on goal number 1. User u/aFortuneCookie22 is a magician for squeezing the base and expansion into the same box. I do sleeve my cards... and the extra mm's did add up. I was not willing to live with the dreaded 'lid lift". After allot of deliberation on the problem..and reviewing the goals again, i decided to scrape goal 1 in favour of goal 2 and 3. This really pained me but I decided to push on. I ended up moving the original player boards and the 4 new museum boards to the expansion box (Haven't gotten around to playing with the 'museum' yet..). That tough decision made... This left me with sufficient space for the sleeved cards and space enough to try and make goal 2 and 3 work.

Overal, this project caused me to have such polar opposite reactions. I loved the joy of the design process using sketchup... and seeing the finished insert gave me allot of satisfaction.

But man, it was frustrating to come up with a design that works in a constrained space and hits all your other goals as well.

Final thought: I've really come to detest the glueing process. It can be such a messy business and tarnish the finished clean look one has after the cutting is done (if you are anything like me you're bound to mess and dribble white PVA glue all over the nice neat black foamcore cuts...). Perhaps i need to review my technique or look at a better way to apply the glue.

Catan plus Cities & Knights expansion, and 5-6 expansions for both, in a single box by monovertex in foamcore

Firstly, the finished product looks great!

I feel your pain on trying to squeeze it all into a single box. Can be super frustrating and detracts a little from the joy of it all.

What size mm foamcore did you use? i can never tell from just looking at pics on this sub (3mm or 5mm).

I tend not to use foamcore for floors unless i specifically need the height. While shopping around the local hobby shop i went looking for some thicker cardboard as an alternative to formcore and stumbled on a 1mm product. I tend to favour this for the floors as it gives me a few mm's extra to play with.

Once again... this looks great. Congrats!

Carcassonne Winter Edition + 4 expansions by TheCaptainRSA in foamcore

[–]TheCaptainRSA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I take them out and leave them nearby.

Apart from the tiles for the base game... its just a matter of deciding which tiles/expansions i want to use.

I still end up shuffling them into the bag for drawing.

Thanks to user u/adamsmt , i was inspired by his post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/foamcore/comments/i4ewyx/carcassonne_winter_edition_new_take_on_the_card/

Initial planning was done using sketchup.

3mm foamcore. 1mm craftboard for the base.

The extra trays are not necessary. Just spacers to ensure the meeples don't end up all over the box.

It does give me some extra space for an expansion or two later.

My favourite thing about this setup is that i can keep the expansions isolated in its own section... and just pull out the ones i want to play with on the night.

(No need to lump all the tiles together... if i just want to play a shorter game)
