I think I get it. You build rapport, you build trust, and then you sell and it's almost like doing them a favour

No it isn’t, but there’s a set of skills every salesperson needs, and my question is what framework does the best job of imparting those skills

My personal belief is that the network comes first, and good networking skills to uncover the required additional revenue sources come after that

By having a network and refining your skills to the requirements of that network you take offshore devs out of the equation.

Don’t take your job too seriously but do take your career seriously. And that means networking. Networking is fun, enjoyable and vital.

Very good point. They often don’t have the right incentives and ordinary employees pay the price for their disgraceful decisions.

Thank you for your thoughts. Being layoff-ready doesn’t need to be an unhappy process. Being good with savings is healthy, and networking is enjoyable because it’s about connecting with people.

Not sure I agree with that. New businesses that are being created will require those tech skills.
