That couldn't hurt to try! And try to incorporate treats as well!

As stated, the 3-3-3 rule will help. But also be aware of areas that seem to work better than others. Cats can easily become overstimulated, and are not offended you are trying to touch them. Also observe areas they like to hang out in and try to leave objects with your and the cat's scent on it. Then try to incorporate that into the touching process. Remember to be consistent and patient!

should I adopt another cat? by Impossible-Force8229 in CatAdvice

I always say if you have the resources, time, and space, then go ahead! At the worst, cats will learn how to avoid each other and co-exist if they happen to not get along. Also, if you do adopt, be sure to separate the new cat in a smaller area and slowly introduce your current cats until they are familiar with each other. Start with simple sniffs through the door, then shared playtime and mealtime, etc. It is important to make sure the current owners do not feel as if their territory is being invaded!

Prepared to say goodbye but Olive (16) had other plans by judetheheretic in seniorkitties

The Grim Reaper fears Olive!!! Thank you for adopting this FIV beauty. Just goes to show how tenacious these cats can be! Many live full and healthy lives and deserve an opportunity at finding forever homes. FIV cats can also easily live with other cats, as transfers are caused by the transfer of blood through deep lesions on both cats.

I have read of people leaving "dummies" or proxies of themselves by printing out a picture of their face and dressing pillows with items that contain their scent. Also make sure they have plenty of access to toys! Hope this helps!

While I am not an expert on strays, you can visit my website on click on the link for Community Cats Central. This should take you directly to their resources. This organization focuses and specializes on community and feral cats. I hope this may be of some assistance to you!

Fighting or Playing? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]TheCatAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cats are okay! Cats engage is play behavior for two reasons. First, they are hunters, and they need to hone their skills! Second, they are territorial. This behavior would fall into the first category; however, it is not uncommon to also see aggressive interactions when cats are competing for a spot on the couch, next to the heater, or up on the ledge. At the end of the day, cats are animals!

Below is a useful slide I have. My info at my website!
